Using data from the federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, the visualization shows the 8,000 “significant” incidents that caused 500 deaths, 2,300 injuries and almost $7 billion in damages.
These “incidents” have spilled the equivalent of 200 barrels every day. And it’s not just oil. Natural gas, propane, diesel and other noxious substances have all been part of this ongoing fossil fuel contamination.
