Western Hypocrisy and a New Challenge for Muslim Democrats — Democracy in Egypt

Following the removal of Egypt’s democratically elected government, pro democracy Muslims have a challenge trying to explain the hypocrisy of the west.
In the wake of the removal of Morsi’s democratically elected government there have been many dreadful scenes of the carnage that ensued. Scenes made even more shocking by the callous support of the killings by Liberal Fascists opposing the democratic choice.
However few things could be as horrific as a short audio clip aired on the BBC Six O’Clock News of an Egyptian lambasting hypocrisy of the west. In the broadcast, a pro Morsi supporter, a lawyer by profession, deplores the west for demanding democracy and then when their preferred candidate fails to win, forgetting all about it.
“This is democracy? You always for ten years have told us that Muslims you have to go to democracy, Muslims you have to go to elections, Arabs you have to go to elections, we already gone to elections, we elect a president, Morsi is elected president, where’s the human rights? Where’s the humanity? Where is the democracy? Where is the principles? Liars Liars Liars Liars”
His words are particularly chilling as many fear that we are witnessing the death of democracy in the Middle East and the dawn of a new dark age for Muslims.
