The prosecutor of a U.N.-backed court probing the 2005 assassination of statesman Rafik Hariri is suffering from an advanced type of diabetes, a report published Thursday said.
The New York-based report by pan-Arab newspaper Al-Hayat said that Daniel Bellemare, Special Tribunal for Lebanon prosecutor, has been “out of sight” after falling ill with a form of advanced diabetes.
It quoted well-informed sources as saying that Bellemare’s “severe health condition has led him to isolate himself from people and stay in a closed room in Canada.”
