La personne arrêtée dans le cadre de la fusillade qui a eu lieu dans la nuit de mercredi à jeudi dans le quartier Caracas à Ras-Beyrouth a été identifiée comme Hani al-Shanti, un citoyen jordanien faisant partie du « groupe des 13 », lié au réseau el-Qaëda, rapporte aujourd’hui la chaîne télévisée al-Manar.
L’un des membres du « groupe des 13 » était Abou Adas qui avait revendiqué, dans une vidéo, l’attentat contre l’ancien Premier ministre libanais Rafic Hariri, en 2005, avant de disparaître.

Hani al-Shanti, a Jordanian and a member of the 13 Islamists that confessed to killing former Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri, joined Suleiman, who both became trapped inside their apartment as security forces attempted to apprehend them, from which a night-long gun battle ensued.
Shanti and Hussein were arrested by the army, along with the building superintendent.
