Syrian Rebels Responsible For Houla Massacre?

[A]ccording to a new report in Germany’s leading daily, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), the Houla massacre was in fact committed by anti-Assad Sunni militants, and the bulk of the victims were member of the Alawi and Shia minorities, which have been largely supportive of Assad. For its account of the massacre, the report cites opponents of Assad, who, however, declined to have their names appear in print out of fear of reprisals from armed opposition groups.

@DSyrer @blakehounshell It’s not an “Alawite area” - the victims have been ID’ed. 62 of them are from the Abdulrazzaq family http://www.gemyakurda.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=54772
There’s a shoddy German FAZ article which peddles the
regime’s viewpoint on Houla while citing the sources as “opposition eyewitnesses”. … However, it does so poorly - claiming that “Shomaliya” [sic] is an “Alawite family” (It’s a nearby village, correctly spelled “Shomariya”); t’s worth noting that most victims have been ID’ed, and most (62 bodies) belong to the Abdulrazzaq family.
“Shomariya” الشومرية is an Alawite village where SANA (+State TV) claimed that an “al-Qaeda attack” happened http://www.sana.sy/ara/336/2012/05/27/421552.htm. … it’s clear that the article is based on bad research - the source is also quite questionable…the “opposition” source cited in the article is repeating the exact same information which the regime-conducted investigation produced.
