#Israel may build artificial island off #Gaza Strip coast | World news | The Guardian
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/30/israel-artificial-island-gaza-coast

Israel is considering plans to build an artificial island off the coast of the Gaza Strip to house a sea and airport, and encourage tourism in the area.

Yisrael Katz, the Israeli minister for transport, said the plan had been under consideration for many months and had been encouraged by Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister. He said it would also relieve Israel of the obligation to be the transit point for goods into the enclave.

L’auteur de cette dépêche est une vedette : il donne des dates pour les infos insignifiantes (trois dates : 3 décorations), mais omet totalement la date de l’invention de la super-colle (même approximativement).

      Hop, Wikipedia :
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Coover

In 1942, while searching for materials to make clear plastic gun sights, Coover and his team at Eastman Kodak first worked with cyanoacrylates, rejecting them as too sticky. Nine years later, Coover was overseeing Kodak chemists investigating heat-resistant polymers for jet canopies when cyanoacrylates were once again tested and proved too sticky. That time around, however, Coover recognized that he had discovered a unique adhesive. In 1958 the adhesive, marketed as Super Glue, was introduced for sale.

      Et le détail étonnant :

While much attention was given to the glue’s capacity to bond solid materials, Coover was also the first to recognize and patent cyanoacrylates as a tissue adhesive. First used in the Vietnam War to temporarily patch the internal organs of injured soldiers until conventional surgery could be performed, tissue adhesives are now used worldwide for a variety of sutureless surgical applications.

#Cuba accuses award-winning blogger of #cyberwar against her country | World news | The Guardian
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/22/cuba-accuses-blogger-cyberwar

The Cuba’s Reasons series has tried to show that the US is using new technologies to try to subvert the Havana government.

It has coincided with the trial and conviction of US aid contractor Alan Gross, who has been jailed since December 2009 for allegedly trying to bring the internet to government opponents. Earlier this month, Gross was sentenced to 15 years in prison by a panel of judges in a case that has strained US-Cuba relations.

Sánchez herself has shrugged off the latest attack, taking to Twitter to announce: “I am so happy. Finally the alternative blogosphere on official television, although it’s to insult us.”

US Army ’kill team’ in #Afghanistan posed with photos of murdered civilians, via @joujolie
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/21/us-army-kill-team-afghanistan-posed-pictures-murdered-civilians

An investigation by Der Spiegel has unearthed approximately 4,000 photos and videos taken by the men.

The magazine, which is planning to publish only three images, said that in addition to the #crimes the men were on trial for there are “also entire collections of pictures of other victims that some of the defendants were keeping”.

US army tried to hide the pictures from the public and only apologised for the “distress” caused... Not for the barbaric actions:

In a statement, the army said it apologised for the distress caused by photographs “depicting actions repugnant to us as human beings and contrary to the standards and values of the United States”.

How #dictators fall | World news | The Observer
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/02/protests-how-dictators-fall

“It is about first actors,” Petersen said last week. “There are people prepared to oppose the regime, but it is about those people you see who will drive within a few hundred metres of a demonstration to see if there are enough people for them to join in as well. It is about people making that strategic decision about joining in whose concern is: I can’t be the only one.”
