Oggi a Londra si terrà un raduno contro la presenza di donne richiedenti asilo a Yarl’s Wood, il più grande centro di identificazione ed espulsione femminile britannico. Organizzato dall’ong Women for refugee women (Wrw), l’evento fa parte della campagna “Set her free”, che chiede al governo di Londra, e in particolare al segretario di stato per gli affari interni Theresa May, di mettere fine alla detenzione di donne rifugiate (erano duemila nel 2012). “Ogni donna che raggiunge questo paese in cerca di protezione ha diritto alla dignità e a una giusta procedura di asilo”, spiega sul suo sito l’ong, che ha invitato #Zadie_Smith a visitare Yarl’s Wood. La scrittrice l’ha definito un “incubo a occhi aperti” (s’indovina già dal sito), unendosi all’appello.
