The municipality of İstanbul has increased the number of public ads urging residents to conserve water, as Turkey’s most populated city struggles with widespread drought.

İstanbul is suffering from a lingering water scarcity due to low levels of precipitation earlier in the year. As of Aug. 24, the amount of water stored in İstanbul’s reservoir had fallen to 16.73 percent, according to the İstanbul Waterworks Authority (İSKİ), a distressingly low level. This figure was 18.61 percent on Aug. 10.
