    UPDATE 12/10/2013: The UN has updated its estimate of internally displaced people from 4.25 million to 6.5 million people, raising the total number of those displaced from roughly 7 million to 8.8 million.

    UPDATE 3/16/2014: The number of refugees has surpassed 2.5 million from 2 million, bringing the total to over 9 million.
