As you might have already guessed, this isn’t the easiest of DIY projects. Unless you’re fond of power tools, proficient with a soldering iron and have some technical know-how, it’s probably not be for you.
That being said, if you’re good to go on those points and have some patience, this project could very well save you a few Franklins.

The comparison between the incandescent lamp and the “pure-white” led is complete hogwash. You’ll get much better quality of light from an incandescent bulb, and that will never change. It’s a full spectrum light source (read: black body) and really the only good one we have besides the sun.
