Former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq’s intention to run for presidency is an indication that Mubarak’s regime is still in place, said presidential hopeful Mohamed ElBaradei on Wednesday.
“When Mubarak’s prime minister, who was ousted by the revolution, announces his intention to run for the presidency of revolutionary Egypt, this means the former regime is still alive,” said ElBaradei on his Twitter account. He concluded his post on an optimistic note, however. “The revolution will triumph,” he wrote.

In a seminar last week in Cairo, Shafiq demonstrated his strong ties with the SCAF. “We are chummy,” he said, though he denied that the military endorsed him for president.
