#Microsoft se réjouit du support de plus en plus uniforme des #standards dans les navigateurs récents :

We did most of our testing in #IE9 on #Windows_7 and from time to time we would also test on #Firefox, #Chrome, #Safari, and in #IE10 developer preview. In general, all major browsers have a very consistent implementation of the #HTML5 features we used and, in most cases, anything we tested in Internet Explorer 9 “just worked” everywhere else.

The ievms scripts aim to facilitate that process using VirtualBox on Linux or OS X. With a single command, you can have IE7, IE8 and IE9 running in separate virtual machines.

The VMs provided by Microsoft will not pass the Windows Genuine Advantage and cannot be activated. Unfortunately for us, that means our VMs will lock us out after 30 days of unactivated use. By reverting to the clean snapshot the countdown to the activation apocalypse is reset, effectively allowing your VM to work indefinitely.

Dark Vador n’aime pas #IE9. Ou pas. Ou le contraire. Fun with #css3, sur http://kristriplett.com/tinker/vader.html.

Une nouvelle unité pour la taille des caractères en #CSS3, le rem :

“The em unit is relative to the font-size of the parent, which causes the compounding issue. The rem unit is relative to the root—or the html—element. That means that we can define a single font size on the html element and define all rem units to be a percentage of that.”

En gros, ça permet d’avoir les avantages des em (une taille relative et non absolue) tout en se débarrassant des héritages des éléments parents. 1.5rem, c’est 150 % de la taille fixée pour l’élément <html>.

    Et :

“You might be surprised to find that browser support is surprisingly decent: #Safari 5, #Chrome, #Firefox 3.6+, and even Internet Explorer 9 have support for this. The nice part is that #IE9 supports resizing text when defined using rems. (Alas, poor #Opera (up to 11.10, at least) hasn’t implemented rem units yet.)”
