Again, a remarkable week for those who appreciate quality interactive data visualization. In just a few days we saw new projects coming from Moritz Stefaner, Jan Willem Tulp, Periscopic (actually, we’re opening with two projects from the Portland-based “Do Good with Data ” boutique), adding to the usual contributions from the top media outlets, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Le Monde and The Guardian.
Moritz wrote a detailed explanation about Visual funding portfolios – a tool/visualization that allows us to compare the funding profiles of funders and funded institutions at a glance. This visualization demonstrates the capabilities and potentials of the science funding datasets generated by uberresearch.com, a company specialized on analysing science funding.
As for Periscopic‘s projects, two outstanding new additions to their portfolio. First, as a part of MSNBC’s multi-year “Growing Hope” campaign, an online, multi-leveled visualization of the hopes and concerns submitted by individuals across the nation. And the other featured project is an exploration tool that visualizes the direct and indirect factors that influence breast cancer in postmenopausal women, developed with scientists at University of California San Francisco.
