Presented below are a series of rare and historic photographs donated to the Institute for Palestine Studies by the Foundation for Middle East Peace. The photographs date from the early 1980’s as the rate of Israeli settlement growth on the West Bank accelerated. Il partito nazista di Hitler era fin troppo noto per il pesante uso del simbolismo adottato nelle sue campagne. Oggi, l’uso di striscioni e aquile enormi, insieme al dispiegamento di grandi folle ordinate in fila sull’attenti ha lasciato un’impressione meritatamente sinistra, tanto da essere stato copiato dalla maggior parte degli stati totalitari e brutali dipinti dalla finzione letteraria. Eppure, nonostante molti di noi sappiano quanto potente fosse la macchina della propaganda e dell’estetica di Hitler, vederla ritratta a colori in questa splendida serie di foto di Life è stato come ricevere un pugno nello stomaco.
