Obscure Records was a U.K. record label which existed from 1975 to 1978. It was created and run by #Brian_Eno, who also produced the albums (credited as executive producer in one instance). Ten albums were issued in the series. Most have detailed liner notes on their back covers, analyzing the compositions and providing a biography of the composer, in a format typical of classical music albums, and much of the material can be regarded as 20th century classical music. The label provided a venue for experimental music, and its association with Eno gave increased public exposure to its composers and musicians.

Wolf Fifth was a modernist music blog, featuring out of print and orphaned classics. Like so many great blogs, they fell victim to the cloud locker wars. Fortunately, UbuWeb’s pal Justin Lacko downloaded the entire archive before they went down and donated the collection to UbuWeb. As you can see by the list below, there’s a ton of stuff, and it’s going to take quite some time to get this all sorted and posted on Ubu. So stay tuned. We’re working on it.
Je suis enfin en train de passer mon stockage de fichiers dans le cloud sur Ubuntu One. Maps aussi complet que Dropbox ou Box.net, mais c’est du libre. Et il y a des applications desktop pour Mac, Windows et GNU/Linux.

Aujourd’hui test d’installation de #owncloud 5.0 sur un serveur dédié, et #synchronisation avec une machine locale #Ubuntu 13.04
J’ai fait l’installation sur un serveur #Debian #Wheezy, malheureusement pas encore de paquet pour owncloud (c’est prévu pour plus tard : http://packages.debian.org/unstable/main/owncloud). Pas grave, il suffit de déposer les fichiers dans le répertoire de apache (suivre http://doc.owncloud.org/server/5.0/admin_manual/installation.html#manual-installation). Pour tester, j’accède juste à l’interface web via mon navigateur, je crée le compte admin, et je peux commencer à jouer.
Les services de owncloud testés (pour voir tous les services disponibles : ►http://owncloud.org/features) :
– synchronisation de fichiers entre un répertoire local et le serveur (visible par l’interface web) , simplement en installant le paquet owncloud-client dans Ubuntu. La configuration est simple, il suffit de déclarer l’URL du serveur owncloud, et le répertoire local à synchroniser. Tout marche bien : on copie un fichier d’un coté, il apparaît tout seul de l’autre coté. Même chose si on supprime, déplace, ...
– partage de fichiers : il est possible de publier un fichier ou un répertoire facilement, sous la forme d’un permalink à partager,
– musique : un mode Musique, dans l’interface web, trouve tout seul les mp3 ou ogg dans mes fichiers partagés, mais pour moi souci au moment d’écouter les mp3. Pas grave.
– contacts : l’un des services les plus intéressants, pour pouvoir centraliser mon carnet d’adresses... mais qui ne marche pas pour moi :( Le seul format d’importation des contacts est #vcard (pas de #ldif) et d’exportation est #carddav, qui n’est pas pris en charge par mon client mail local #thunderbird. Une solution à tester pour utiliser le protocole carddav avec thunderbird : SOGo (http://www.sogo.nu/fr/about/overview.html)
– agenda partagé : basé sur #caldav, ça se synchronise très bien avec l’extension Lightning de Thunderbird, on a le même calendrier en local et dans l’interface web
– firefox sync : il faut installer l’appli Mozilla Sync Service (http://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php/Mozilla+Sync+Service?content=155251 - télécharger et placer dans le répertoire apps/ sur le serveur) - ça fonctionne super pour synchroniser tout #firefox (signets, passwords, historique, etc.) - essayé entre deux machines locales.
Au final, en très peu de temps, on évite d’installer davical + agendav (serveur et client web d’agendas partagés), ajaxplorer (partage de fichiers, par ailleurs bien plus complet que owncloud) et un serveur Mozilla Sync. J’imagine que d’autres services viendront, pour l’instant ce n’est pas encore le couteau suisse complet de l’#autohébergement, mais ça aide bien.

The Avant Garde Project celebrates its dodransbicentennial (quartoseptcentennial?) with the only out-of-print recording of Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire that I could find in my stacks. It is sung/recited by Mary Thomas with The Fires of London, and was released on LP on Unicorn Records RHS 319 in 1973. Pierrot Lunaire had a special place in the repertoire of The Fires of London in that they were originally named The Pierrot Players when they formed in 1967. The LP also includes a recording of Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony in an arrangement by Anton Webern for the same instrumentation that is used for Pierrot Lunaire. (...)

476 morceaux qui ont fait l’histoire de la #musique_électronique et #électroacoustique - la sélection partiale d’un étudiant brésilien, avec très peu #femmes et très peu de non-occidentaux, nous dit Ubuweb en guise d’avertissement, mais une belle première approche de cette histoire.
This is from a 62 CD set called “The History of Electroacoustic Music” that was floating around as a torrent, reputedly curated by a Brazilian student. It’s sketchy. The torrent vanished and the collection has long been unavailable.
It’s a clearly flawed selection: there’s few women and almost no one working outside of the Western tradition (where are the Japanese? Chinese? etc.). However, as an effort, it’s admirable and contains a ton of great stuff.
Take it with a grain of salt, or perhaps use it as a provocation to curate a more intelligent, inclusive, and comprehensive selection.

The film itself, which spans the same wild extremes that Warhol’s life did, offers strong evidence to the contrary. It bears out the thought that Warhol, described by one of Mr. Workman’s many interviewees as “this crazy peasant who somehow is the eye of the storm,” was indeed a person about whom others — and he himself, in “The Andy Warhol Diaries” — could speak volumes.
