    Israel Bombs the Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City

    Israeli airstrikes targeted, before dawn on Sunday, the Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, in the northern besieged Gaza Strip, after forcing patients and staff to evacuate.

    WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes fired two missiles at the Baptist Hospital, causing severe damage to the reception building, leading to fires in the reception area, the Emergency department, the laboratory, and the pharmacy.

    Eyewitnesses stated that minutes before the airstrike, the occupation army issued a threat that they would target the hospital, forcing patients and staff to evacuate.

    Sources added that as a result of the Israeli attack, the Baptist hospital has been rendered out of service, while the entire health sector is near collapse.

    For its part, the Palestinian Health Ministry denounced the Israeli bombing of the Baptist Hospital, and urged all international institutions to intervene to protect Gaza’s health sector, and to halt the ongoing violations against health facilities.

      Le diocèse épiscopal de Jérusalem – qui représente l’Église anglicane en Israël, en Palestine, en Jordanie, en Syrie et au Liban – a publié dimanche un communiqué dans lequel il se dit « consterné » par la frappe israélienne ayant visé, quelques heures plus tôt, l’hôpital baptiste Al-Ahli à Gaza, « pour la cinquième fois depuis le début de la guerre », selon le Haaretz.

      « Le diocèse de Jérusalem condamne avec la plus grande fermeté les frappes de missiles d’aujourd’hui contre l’hôpital arabe Al-Ahli, une institution gérée par l’Église anglicane de Jérusalem », indique le texte. Selon le communiqué, la frappe a provoqué des « dommages collatéraux aux bâtiments environnants, notamment à l’église Saint-Philip ».

      L’attaque aurait eu lieu « à peine vingt minutes » après que "l’armée israélienne a ordonné à tous les patients, employés et personnes déplacées d’évacuer immédiatement les lieux", poursuit le communiqué, précisant qu’ils « remercient Dieu qu’il n’y ait pas eu de blessés ni de morts » à la suite du bombardement – à l’exception d’"un enfant, qui souffrait déjà d’un traumatisme crânien et qui est malheureusement décédé à cause de l’évacuation précipitée."
