SpaceX signaled an evolution in the development of Muskism. The War on Terror helped nurture a new type of state symbiosis, one in which military contractors began to perform roles formerly reserved for the government.
Muskism absorbed the idea that companies, by entering into such partnerships with the state, can become state-like. The goal was not to eliminate the government nate the government but to vassalize it, such that it can only exercise its authority by purchasing services from a monopoly provider.
By 2025, SpaceX accounted for 95 percent o all orbital launches in the United States and more than half of all launches globally—a position that made the Pentagon, NASA, and other government agencies deeply reliant on Musk.30 SpaceX became the de facto gatekeeper for government access to low Earth orbit.
