The police believe the attack was committed by a man who had attacked her previously and is currently trying to locate the suspect. Both the police and the victim’s family and friends believe that the attempted murder was linked to O.Tserennadmid’s opposition to micro miners operating at Noyon Mountain.
Sources report that she had submitted her third official demand to the Mandal Soum Mayor’s Office for annulling micro mining permits, just days before she was attacked in her home. O.Tserennadmid publicly criticized the soum’s mayor for allowing mining operations at the mountain. Sources say that the O.Tserennadmin might have been a victim of several blackmail attempts led by micro miners to silence her protests, according to Unuudur.
Noyon Mountain is famous for being home to historically significant tombs, which date back to the Xiongnu Empire, and many other cultural artifacts.
