The Lebanese Rocket Society, based out of the Armenian Haigazian University, designed and launched 10 rockets into space between 1960 and 1967. Since most of the rockets didn’t exactly make it into space, the apex of the program was in 1964 when the Cedar IV rocket reached an altitude of 200 kilometers, about the distance of the International Space Station from Earth. Shortly after, the program was shut down when two students were hospitalized following an accident. Just like that, Lebanon’s space-related endeavors came to an end.
