The Cabbage Fairy (aka La fée aux choux) is the oldest surviving film directed by the world’s 1st female filmmaker, Alice Guy-Blaché. The short references a folk tale regarding the origin of babies, not unlike the delivery stork, and pre-dating Cabbage Patch dolls by about 80 years.

Alice Guy - La naissance, la vie et la mort du Christ (1906)
Alice Guy prima cineasta donna. Il film intitolato La naissance, la vie et la mort du Christ (1906), è l’opera più ambiziosa e celebre della Guy. Fu la prima grande produzione realizzata dalla Gaumont, per la quale furono mobilitate 300 comparse, un fatto, questo, straordinario all’epoca. La colonna sonora qui pubblicata è stata composta da Andrea Negruzzo e registrata da Andrea Lepori presso ML Recording Studios. La registrazione è stata seguita dal quintetto «le muse» composto da Elisa Parodi (flauto), Alessandra Dalla Barba (violino), Ilaria Bruzzone (viola), Arianna Menesini (violoncello), Michela Gatti (contrabbasso).
