At 4:45 a.m., the military said it fired more warning shots.
But CNN’s analysis of dozens of videos from the night and testimonies from eyewitnesses’ casts doubt on Israel’s version of events. The evidence, reviewed by forensic and ballistic experts, indicated that automatic gunfire began before the IDF said the convoy had started crossing through the checkpoint and that shots were fired within close range of crowds that had gathered for food.
The IDF have not yet responded to CNN’s questions on these findings.

Quelle ne fut donc pas ma surprise de découvrir en février 2024 que la Dares retrouvait le chemin de la raison en publiant à nouveau les taux de ruptures des contrats commencés en 2020 ! Force est de constater que la situation ne s’est pas améliorée : 38 % des contrats d’une durée prévue d’environ deux ans ont été rompus (dont 27,3 % la première année). Ce qui correspond à plusieurs centaines de milliers de ruptures par an ! Une hécatombe au regard des 10 % d’élèves de lycées professionnels qui décrochent chaque année et dont on fait toute une montagne ! Qui est informé de cela ? Qui le sait parmi les parents et les jeunes “clients” de l’apprentissage, appâtés chaque jour par les boniments des libéraux ?? Two Israeli Actions Misfired, Pushed Netanyahoo Into Retreat
Several recent incidents have increased the pressure on Israel to end its war on Gaza.
There are serious signs that the Israeli government, under pressure from the U.S., is now moving towards an intermediate ceasefire state that all sides may be able to live with - at least for a while. The decision to do that however has split the Netanyahoo government and may well end the coalition which supports it.
After six month of operations in Gaza the Israeli government has reached none of its announced aims. Neither is Hamas defeated, nor have the hostages been released. There is no viable plan who, if not Hamas, will in future rule the Gaza strip.
Israeli settlers, who have been living near the Gaza strip and the northern border, are still not willing to return to their homes as the government lacks a plan to guarantee their security.
Pressure on the Israeli government comes from several sides.
The war has been extremely costly for Israel’s economy. The called up reservists have been missing in their work places. The tourism business is down on its knees. Providing for those hundreds of thousands who have fled from their homes is costly.
Large protest have erupted within Israel demanding the return of the hostages.
International criticism of Israel has risen to unprecedented levels. Several UN resolutions have condemned it for its war crimes in Gaza. The International Court of Justice has ruled against it.
Only the support from the United States had allowed Israel to continue. But two recent incidents have jeopardized it.
The first was Israel’s assassination of seven people who had been working for World Central Kitchen, a U.S. based charity with good connections to Congress. Forty members of Congress, including Nancy Pelosi, have since spoken out against further unconditional support for Israel. The U.S. government under Joe Biden had to acknowledge that. It finally threatened to end its support for the Israeli government.
Following U.S. threats Israel immediately increased the provision of food to the starving population in Gaza:
The Defense Ministry body that coordinates Israeli activity in Palestinian territories said that 322 aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the highest one-day total since the beginning of the war.
The second game changing incident was the Israeli attack on an Iranian embassy building in Damascus. A hit on any embassy is a serious crime that concerns all governments in this world. Iran would be fully within its rights to retaliated for such a strike.
The U.S. was extremely concerned over this as any Iranian response might well hit the many U.S. installation in the Middle East and could escalate into a wider war with severe consequences for all sides.
This had to be averted. Iranian media report now that a deal has been made in negotiations between Iran and the U.S. Iran will refrain from a direct attack on Israel if the U.S. guarantees a ceasefire in Gaza:
Iran informed the US that it would refrain from responding to the airstrike in which senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders were killed in Damascus if a ceasefire in Gaza is reached, Jadeh Iran reported on Sunday.
The news outlet cited an anonymous Arab diplomatic source, saying the source spoke to the news outlet two days ago. The source added that “If America succeeds in containing the situation, it will be a great success for the Biden administration and we can build on that.”
The report comes as negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release deal resume between Israel and Hamas in Cairo and as Israel continues preparations for a possible response to the Damascus airstrike that Syria and Iran blamed on Israel.
For the first time in six months ceasefire negotiations have suddenly become serious:
The state-linked Al-Qahera reported that Qatari and Hamas delegations had left Cairo and were expected to return “within two days to finalize the terms of the agreement.”
US and Israeli delegations were due to leave the Egyptian capital “in the next few hours” and consultations were expected to continue over the next 48 hours, the outlet added.
The report, which was not confirmed by any of the parties in the talks, came after Israeli officials had indicated cautious optimism on the chances for a deal in comments carried by Hebrew-language media, with Jerusalem giving its delegation wider leeway to make concessions toward an agreement.
“This time is different, we are the closest we’ve been in months to a deal,” Channel 12 news quoted a source close to the talks saying.
Yesterday Israel withdrew its last but one brigade from Gaza. Many in Israel interpreted this as an admittance of defeat:
Is this how the war ends? Not with a bang, or even a whimper, but with the IDF pulling its ground forces out of Khan Younis, and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant asserting, in defiance of reality, that Hamas has “stopped functioning as a military organization throughout the Gaza Strip,” contradicting himself in the next breath, and clarifying a few hours later?
The radicals in Israel’s government also interpret this as a defeat of their aims. They are threatening to blow up their coalition with Netanyahoo over this:
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich issues a statement calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately convene the security cabinet to discuss the state of the war in Gaza, after the army pulled forces out of the southern Strip.
“The only forum authorized to make significant decisions in war is the full [security] cabinet, but unfortunately this is not how things are happening, and we are seeing decisions being made in the smaller [war] cabinet without approval, without updating the full cabinet, under international pressure that is harming the war’s momentum and our security interests,” he says.
The Netanyahoo government had gotten too cooky. Its army’s attack on U.S. supported charity workers and its attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus finally pushed the U.S. government to withdraw its support for the war.
Without support from the U.S. there is no way for Israel to continue a fight. Netanyahoo had to give up and did so.
We thus may now move towards a new balance of a lesser war which may sustain for a while but which can no be permanent.
The aim of Hamas’ Al Aqsa Flood operation was to shatter the feeling of security and invincibility with he Zionist population of Israel. In has been successful in this.
The Israeli government has yet found no way to compensate for it.

A source in the Iranian foreign ministry told Al-Jarida that Washington offered Tehran direct negotiations with Tel Aviv to de-escalate the conflict.
According to the source, Washington will guarantee to persuade Tel Aviv to stop its military operations in Syria and Lebanon on the condition that Iran commit not to retaliate against Israel for the Damascus attack.
At the same time, a diplomatic source in Beirut told Al-Jarida that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected an American proposal to pledge to stop attacks in Syria.
The source added that Iranian leader Ali Khamenei is reviewing the US offer but is not expected to accept it if it does not include guarantees for a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and to stop all Israeli and US attacks on Iranian targets or those belonging to Iran’s allies in the Axis of Resistance.
The source revealed that the Iranians had also previously received a verbal Israeli proposal via a Gulf state. In the proposal, Tel Aviv claimed it was ready to stop operations against Iranian targets in Syria and Lebanon in exchange for Tehran abandoning retaliation for the killing of Zahedi, whose killing was considered the most significant blow to Iran since the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.
According to the source, the Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to the Israeli message by saying that the proposal must also include a ceasefire in Gaza.
However, some IRGC leaders were unhappy with the foreign ministry’s response, viewing the Israeli proposal as a trap. The IRGC leaders argued that any negotiations with Israel must take place only after Iran has retaliated.
The source stated that IRGC commanders believe that Israel’s targeting of the Iranian consulate is an opportunity that should not be missed to strike a strong blow at Israel, especially since the consular building in Damascus is considered sovereign Iranian territory and was targeted in a clear violation of international law.
The source said that the IRGC leadership believes Washington will not enter a war with Iran even if it retaliates against Israel. They also consider that an adequately harsh strike against Israel will compel it to accept a ceasefire in Gaza and abandon any plans to invade Lebanon or escalate its bombing in Syria.

Long-term Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqqa has died in Israel’s Assaf Harofeh Hospital, according to Al Jazeera Arabic.
Daqqa, who had been detained since 1986, had been diagnosed with a rare type of bone marrow cancer last year. Israeli authorities denied his early release despite his terminal diagnosis.
Daqqa was originally due to be released from prison last year after completing his life sentence.
However, in 2018, an Israeli court sentenced him to additional years on charges of smuggling cellphones inside the prison. His release date was set to be in 2025.
Like other Palestinian prisoners, Daqqa, who had also been diagnosed with leukaemia in 2015, had suffered from medical negligence during his time, which had worsened his health.
According to Sana Salama, Daqqa’s wife, he had previously undergone a lung resection operation due to severe pneumonia and was hospitalised for over a month at the Barzilai Hospital in Israel.
“He also suffers from severe kidney failure and low blood pressure. After the surgery, he was unable to speak, but he’s been unable to move or walk unassisted,” Salama told Middle East Eye last year.
In the course of his imprisonment, Daqqa had written books and studies on various subjects, and cultivated a reputation of being a thinker.

The prisoner Walid Daqqa passes away as a martyr in Israeli occupation hospitals, bearing witness to the ongoing crime of colonialism against Palestinian prisoners in the last colonial prisons in the world. Daqqa departs this world after serving a continuous sentence of over 38 years, during which guards changed multiple times and the cell doors rusted shut. In his departure, Daqqa leaves behind a clear image of the inhumane treatment practiced by the occupation, particularly towards Palestinian prisoners.
Daqqa departs without ceasing to spread the values of humanity and images of struggle even from within a cell that became more familiar to him than his own family did. His pen never ran dry as he wrote and taught the noblest meanings of humanity in places where humanity itself was fought and confined within the boxes of time—the prisons. No words can do justice to the horrors that people in #Gaza are living in since the war began six months ago.
The lives of 2 million people were turned upside down, often overnight. Many lost the most precious: their loved ones. Everything is in short supply except for grieving hearts.
This war broke all the superlatives with the highest number of children killed, aid workers, journalists and medical teams + unprecedented attacks & destruction of hospitals & @UN buildings in blatant disregard of International Humanitarian Law.
All lines - including the red lines - were crossed. This war is made far worse through technologies mis-used by humans to harm other humans; en-mass.
It is made worse by the famine born from an Israeli imposed siege, one would think it’s from a different era.
As a result, a man-made famine is eating up bodies of babies and young children.
Meanwhile, attacks continue against @UNRWA, the largest humanitarian organisation, with the aim to dismantle it & deny the refugee status to millions of Palestinians.
Amid political debates and failed diplomacy, between well-polished talking points and statements, the hellhole in #Gaza is deepening by the day.
The calls are very clear:
–Civilians - wherever they are - must be protected. Every civilian life lost is a tragedy.
–All hostages in Gaza must be released.
–A ceasefire must be implemented now.
–Israel must open more land crossings & lift all restrictions on the work of@UNRWA without further delay.
This is now a race against time to restore our humanity.

L’antisémitisme est un chancre, un fléau. Il est de gauche (au XIXe siècle, le mouvement ouvrier voyait en Rothschild et compagnie l’incarnation des ploutocrates qui buvaient le sang du peuple). Il est de droite (au moment de l’affaire Dreyfus, les haut-gradés, leurs complices politiques, les bourgeois n’hésitaient pas à mentir pour expédier le capitaine martyr à Cayenne). Dans les années 30, il constitue le drapeau de ralliement du fascisme qui monte. Et, pendant la guerre, il est la honte d’une France qui collabore avec les artisans de la Shoah.
Il est partout, relayé aujourd’hui sur les réseaux sociaux, attisé par les conflits du Proche-Orient.
Mais ces derniers polluent l’esprit. Moi, dont la famille a caché des Juifs tout au long de la guerre, je découvre des anathèmes sans rime ni raison. Parce qu’on critique Israël, on serait complice du Hamas, indifférent aux massacres et aux enlèvements de civils du 7 octobre. Ce terrorisme-là est odieux. Mais la manière dont l’armée israélienne pilonne le ghetto de Gaza, affame les populations, arrose de bombes femmes et enfants sans discrimination, m’est insupportable.
Est-il possible, par les temps qui courent, de nommer enfin l’innommable ? Est-on libre de soutenir le droit à l’existence d’Israël mais aussi de pointer l’aveuglement cynique de ses dirigeants, le déni phénoménal d’une grande partie de ses citoyens ? A-t-on le droit de dire que les Palestiniens sont humiliés, maltraités, colonisés ? Si un autre État de la planète se comportait ainsi, il serait légitimement mis au ban des nations fréquentables.
Au lieu de cela, le monde arabe est aux abonnés absents et le monde occidental continue à fournir des armes tout en susurrant quelques murmures de protestation.
Mes amis juifs sont au désespoir quand ils entendent conter que Tsahal est une « armée éthique », Tsahal qui bombarde les maisons d’habitation, les hôpitaux, qui interdit l’entrée de la nourriture et de l’eau, qui commet « l’erreur » de cibler les organisations humanitaires.
Sachons choisir nos mots. Dénoncer l’état-major d’Israël, son indifférence aux traités, son aversion proclamée envers l’Onu, n’a rien d’antisémite, au contraire. L’adversaire premier des Juifs, actuellement, s’appelle Netanyahu.

Le plus grand hôpital de Gaza a été réduit à une « coquille vide » parsemée de dépouilles humaines par la dernière opération israélienne contre lui, a dénoncé l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS).
Les forces israéliennes se sont retirées de l’hôpital al-Chifa de la ville de Gaza lundi, après une opération de deux semaines, durant laquelle elles ont déclaré avoir lutté contre des combattants palestiniens à l’intérieur de ce qui était le plus important complexe médical du territoire palestinien.
Une mission dirigée par l’OMS a pu accéder à l’hôpital vendredi, a indiqué cette agence des Nations unies.
« Al-Chifa, autrefois l’épine dorsale du système de santé à Gaza, n’est plus qu’une coquille vide avec des tombes » a écrit le chef de l’OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, sur X.

@WHO and partners managed to reach Al-Shifa — once the backbone of the health system in #Gaza, which is now an empty shell with human graves after the latest siege. The team witnessed at least five dead bodies during the mission.
Most of the buildings in the hospital complex are extensively destroyed and the majority of assets damaged or reduced to ashes. Even restoring minimal functionality in the short term seems implausible. An in-depth assessment by a team of engineers is needed to determine if the remaining buildings are safe for future use.
WHO and partners’ recent effort to support the revival of basic services at Al-Shifa are now lost, and people are once again deprived of access to lifesaving health care services.
As famine looms, disease outbreaks spread, and trauma injuries increase, WHO urges immediate:
– protection of remaining health facilities in Gaza
– protection of health and humanitarian workers
– additional land crossings to allow access into and across north Gaza
– functional deconfliction mechanism
– unimpeded access of humanitarian aid into and across the Gaza Strip
– ceasefire.

Ce billet soulignait d’abord que les États-Unis et l’UE accordent toujours actuellement une impunité totale à Israël (les ventes d’armes, et les avantages économiques accordés très importants sont maintenus).
Ce billet détaillait surtout comment les médias occidentaux avaient validé la propagande israélienne qui a donné du Hamas (donc des Palestiniens), puis de l’UNRWA, une image barbare.
Cette reprise par de très grands médias américains et britanniques prestigieux , puis par tous les médias occidentaux, et notamment toutes les chaines de télévision françaises, des mensonges israéliens, ont permis que le bombardement de toute une population civile, sous blocus depuis 16 ans par la 10ème armée du monde, ne provoque que des réactions très limitées de la population occidentale.
La propagande israélienne attribuant faussement au Hamas des atrocités démentielles le 7 octobre (femme enceinte éventrée, bébés décapités) a permis de déshumaniser et même de démoniser le Hamas et donc les Palestiniens. Cette propagande mensongère validée par un article du New York Times puis par la plupart des grands médias occidentaux à travers la planète a permis aux dirigeants occidentaux (Biden, Scholz, Sunak, et Macron surtout), de donner un blanc seing aux bombardements de population civile ("Israël a le droit de se défendre" dans toutes les langues, à travers la planète, mais jamais "Les Palestiniens ont le droit de se défendre").
Un peu plus tard, ce sont les accusations non prouvées d’Israël contre quelques salariés de l’UNRWA qui ont permis aux principaux bailleurs de fonds de cette agence de l’ONU, les Etats-Unis et l’Allemagne, de stopper leur financement, acculant ainsi la population rescapée de Gaza à la famine.
Je n’avais pas fait de copie de mon billet. J’attends donc qu’ils me redonne accès à cette rédaction et à tous les liens que j’y avais insérés.
Les raisons avancées par Mediapart pour cette dé-publication sont les suivantes :
« propos injurieux, diffamatoires, discriminants, envers une personne ou un groupe de personnes, en raison de leur origine, de leur couleur de peau, de leur appartenance ou de leur non-appartenance, vraie ou supposée, à une ethnie, une nation ou une religion. »
Je leur ai demandé de me dire quels propos ils incriminaient. J’attends leur réponse.
Parce que « sioniste » n’est pas une ethnie, ni une nation (israélien est l’appartenance nationale), ni une religion.
Médiapart doit aussi utiliser une intelligence artificielle pour « verrouiller » ses cibles.
Il aurait passé les filtres si l’expression « sionistes dominent le monde » n’avait pas été employée. Sans cet élément de langage, il n’y a rien à reprocher au contenu. Il faut parfois être un peu futé et ne pas provoquer pour éviter la censure.
Il n’y a effectivement RIEN à reprocher au contenu.
Donc il s’agit bien de censure au profit d’Israël et des sionistes.
Mediapart aurait pu aussi me demander simplement de changer le titre ...
L’autre problème étant qu’il faut toujours garder une copie de ce que l’on publie vu que le contenu mis « en ligne » est soumis à une grande volatilité.
Ca faisait plus d’un an que mes billets passaient sans problème.
Sur Israël, il était devenu, de fait, plus difficile à Mediapart de dépublier.
Le titre peut certes être considéré comme provocateur. Mais seulement par ceux qui refusent justement de voir que la colonisation de la Palestine n’est pas le fait « de juifs » mais bien le fait de « l’occident colonial qui a besoin de pétrole ».
Tiens, je vais essayer de leur expliquer ça aux « modérateur-censeur » du Club Mediapart ...

وتابع في مقالٍ نشره بصحيفة (معاريف) العبريّة: “يجب علينا أخذ مهلة، وإعادة الرهائن، وتجهيز الجيش للحرب الإقليميّة الكبيرة التي تُعتبر تهديدًا وجوديًا حقيقيًا لبقائنا على هذه الأرض. الجيش والجبهة الداخلية غير جاهزَين بتاتًا، ولذا يجب إعادة ترميم الاقتصاد الإسرائيليّ وعلاقاتنا الدولية، وإعادة النازحين إلى منازلهم، وإعادة التكاتف في المجتمع، وإنقاذ الدولة من الانهيار”.
وأوضح الجنرال المتقاعد في مقاله، الذي نقلته للعربيّة (مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينيّة)، أنّ “استمرار القتال الذي فقد هدفه منذ وقتٍ في قطاع غزة، هو الطريق الأفضل لضمان استمرار تفكُّك الدولة. يجب ترك الأوهام، والمصالح الضيقة، والسياسات الصغيرة، و”الإيغو” (الأنا) الكبيرة، وأيضًا الخلافات الداخلية، بدلاً من اللجوء إلى الحوار، وعلينا جميعًا أنْ نقوم وننقذ دولتنا من دمارها لأنّنا لا نملك دولة أُخرى، وهذا لا يزال ممكنًا”، كما قال.
ومضى قائلاً: “يتعيّن علينا الحفاظ على إنجازاتنا العسكريّة حتى الآن في قطاع غزة، لن نحقق أفضل منها، العكس هو الصحيح، كلّما استمر القتال في غزة، كلّما غرقنا بشكلٍ أعمقٍ. تفكيك الكتائب الأربع المتبقية في رفح و(تفكيك حماس كليًا) هما الكذبة الأكبر في تاريخ حروب إسرائيل، والتي يبيعنا إيّاها المستويان السياسيّ والعسكريّ”، على حدّ وصفه.
وأوضح اللواء بريك أنّه “للأسف، أغلبية الجمهور تقع في هذه المصيدة، وتُصدِّق هذه الأكاذيب التي يتّم نشرها لكسب الوقت من أجل البقاء السياسيّ والعسكريّ، والتمسك بما هو موجود أطول وقت ممكن، ومؤخرًا فقط، أعلن الأمريكيون أنّ خطة دخول الجيش إلى مخيمات رفح غير لائقة، وستؤدي إلى أكبرٍ مجاعةٍ في القرن، لذلك، لن يوافقوا على الدخول”، طبقًا لأقواله.

Qatar is the historic mediator of conflicts between Palestinian resistance forces and Israel.
In this round of war negotiations, Doha officials said that Israel impeded efforts toward the release of the captives in Gaza.
“We approached Israel very soon after 7 October since we were able to agree with Hamas about the release of all civilian hostages,” a senior source close to the Qatari government said.
The source added that Israel took too long to respond.
“We were only answered by Israel on 16 October,” he said, adding that Israel was adamant about conducting a siege on Gaza in an attempt to release the captives on its own and establish deterrence.
According to a Hamas source, Qatar reached out to Israel on 8 October to attempt to mediate a prisoner swap deal between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.
