Humility is the way to peace – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/11/08/humility-way-peace
Why do Christians at times struggle with each other? Why does it seem we sometimes have more patience and understanding with those outside of Christ rather than with our brothers and sisters in Christ? Could it be that we have our focus on the wrong person?
No wonder he trembled – R’s Commonplace Book
▻http://randal.us/no-wonder-he-trembled
Paul preached the faith to Felix, Acts 24.24-25. He spoke about what the governor needed to hear: God’s approval, self-control, and coming judgment. No wonder he trembled.
What is peace with God? – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/11/04/what-peace-god
Men have thought it possible to have what one politician called “peace in our time.” Many worked in vain to bring together two warring parties. But there is no end to human wars. One ends, only for another to begin. Since the Fall, conflict has always been a part of mankind, on every level — among nations, political parties, social groups, and families.
Are you ordinary? – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/10/29/are-you-ordinary
Are you ordinary? In some ways we are all ordinary, aren’t we? We don’t wield super-human strength, or the ability to see through walls. We are not faster than a speeding bullet, nor are we stronger than a locomotive. And we can’t leap tall buildings in a single bound. We are not world-famous artisans. Nor are we wise beyond all measure. And that is all quite fine. God can still use us to do great things.
Speaking to Felix about righteousness – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/10/28/felix-righteousness
As Jesus said Paul would “carry [his] name before Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel” Acts 9.15, the apostle preached righteousness to Felix, the Roman governor.
The subject of righteousness makes up part of the gospel and should be proclaimed today. See these points from the text of Acts 24.
Humble Mary – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/10/27/humble-mary
In the United States, we are entering the season in which we will elect a president. What this means is that for the next year and three months we will hear politicians tell us why they deserve the favor of our vote to elevate them to high office.
Before all the hubbub starts in earnest, it might be refreshing to hear another voice
UPLift: All things change, except one | Forthright Press

Remember the web back in the 90s? Do you pine for those days when spam and bots weren’t a thing? Would you go back to those days and give up all the development that has occurred since then? I thought not.
Change is a given. It’s going to happen whether we like it or not. Things and people die, other things and other people are born. It’s not a cycle, but a progression. Time moves forward. We think it may move slowly or rapidly, but it does move. And is reaching toward the End.
Do right – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/10/21/do-right
The world isn’t much concerned with doing right. It prefers to do what feels good. People look for immediate gratification rather than adhere to a standard and enjoy the fruit of righteousness. Opinions then become an individual’s guide and the arbitrator of what is good and right. This explains a major part of the mess the world is in.

Exodus 17 Commentary - James Burton Coffman Commentaries on the Bible
//www.studylight.org/commentaries/bcc/exodus-17.html
“Is Jehovah among us or not ...?” In this rebellions outburst, the subtle shift had taken place in the sinful hearts of men which actually pervert the truth “that we are the Lord’s,” making it to be, “the Lord is ours!” The rude and rebellious demands of Israel were most sinful and unbecoming a people so recently redeemed from slavery, but it should be remembered that long years of slavery had left their mark upon the minds and hearts of that people. In their dreams and imaginations of freedom, they had somehow overlooked the price and requirements of freedom. Free men should not expect that God will exempt them from every hardship. “They thought incorrectly that it was God’s business to see to it that His people were rendered marvelously immune to the hazards of existence, time, accident, and environment.”[11] And yet, are not Christians today sometimes tempted to doubt the providence of God because of hardships encountered in the way of life?

Practicing Proverbs, chapter 3 | Forthright Press

We’ve published a few of these on the Forthright Press blog, and here’s yet another one — out of order as far as the book’s chapters, but within, we hope, the great order of God’s wisdom. So here are 7 important points of wisdom from chapter 3 of Proverbs.
Glory for marriage

Jesus’ covenant is better – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/08/02/jesus-covenant-better

The Value of vision – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/07/09/the-value-of-vision
Have you ever bumped your toe, banged your knee, or walked into a wall? I’m not talking about pain that comes from being a walking phone-zombie, but rather from the blindness that comes about from walking in the dark. Walking without sight presents great challenges. Those with good eyesight only experience those challenges rarely. But those experiences provide great lessons for us. It should not surprise us that God uses the physical realities of blindness to teach far more important spiritual lessons.

With all your mind – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/06/30/with-all-your-mind
How do I love God with my mind? The Lord Jesus included this as a part of what he knew to be the “greatest commandment.” Since it held such an important place in the Lord Jesus’ thoughts it ought to hold a similarly great place in ours, shouldn’t it?
Have we surrendered? – Forthright Magazine
▻http://forthright.net/2019/06/29/have-we-surrendered
The Israelites describe the Philistines as “rulers over us” instead of acknowledging that God was their true ruler and king. They had already surrendered to the Philistines.
Considering the text in Judges, one might ask, “Have Christians in our age surrendered to the evil?”
