Jaimie Mantzel is a toy inventor and he is psyched. The reason? Somehow he’s managed to get a toy company on board to help create the walking robot toy he dreamed of having as a kid. Jaimie is heralding this prototype robot as the “greatest toy in the universe.” After watching the video below, you may actually agree with him.

Spider Tank
[...] Not to disappoint, I’ve got one of my newest creations to show. Its a spider tank. I made almost all the pieces out of plastic. Its this 2 part exopy-ish plastic. That is you mix 2 liquids together, then in about 10 minutes it solidifies into white plastic. I made molds for most of those parts with a similar rubber product. That way as long as I could make the origina piece in the right shape.... using anything somewhat solid (vlay, cut up plastic pieces, chucks of crap off the floor, gum.... whatever) I could mold it then pour plastic into the mold and make solid plastic parts. yippee. I’ve managed to get the engineering of this design worked out to a pretty simple design, and I’m very happy with it. Well, with no further adooooo, here it is! Oh, and it was completed some time in early 2006. ...and like isn’t there a way to get paid for making stuff like this!?
Il aura donc mis six ans pour passer d’un premier prototype fonctionnel à un prototype finalisé sur le point d’être lancé en production. On notera que la télécommande radio a été remplacée par une télécommande infra-rouge, en plus des diverses options additionnelles astucieuses.
Enfin, notons que le jouet réclame un nom. Le distributeur du jouet a décidé de lancer une campagne marketing incitant les potentiels joueurs à proposer un nom. En échange ? Un exemplaire dédicacé du robot. (Certes, ce n’est pas cher payé, mais en parallèle, ça n’a pas de prix, si ? Et puis garçons une âme d’enfant ! Mettons les gros sous de côté, quitte à ce que les autres s’en enrichissent. Pfff...) :)

Plus qu’à attendre l’été 2012 pour pouvoir y toucher. Que c’est injuste ! J’en veux trois ! (Ben oui, un pour chacun de mes neveux, plus un pour moi, histoire qu’on puisse faire des batailles !) ;)
