Wendy Goldsmith, a member of the land team working to secure the release of the women stated that, “the ‘deportation’ is happening much quicker than in previous flotillas. While we had a great legal team assisting the women, we suspect that the reason for the quick release was because of all the negative media attention Israel has been receiving for its illegal interception, including the demand of rock band Pink Floyd.”

Surnommée "la Flottille des femmes pour Gaza", elle fait partie de la plus large "Coalition de la flottille de la liberté" qui est constituée de bateaux pro-palestiniens qui cherchent régulièrement à atteindre Gaza pour tenter de briser le blocus. Le Zaytouna-Oliva a levé les voiles à Barcelone en septembre, mais il a été intercepté en eaux internationales par l’armée israélienne cette semaine.
Les 13 militantes à bord ont été arrêtées, interrogées et sont en attente de déportation.
On connaît les tensions au sein du groupe Pink Floyd : David Gilmour a encore stipulé récemment que le groupe n’existait plus. Le "dernier album" date de novembre 2014, et “The Endless River” avait d’ailleurs été réalisé sans la contribution de Roger Waters.
Mais face à l’actualité, les membres du groupe ont décidé de se réunir et de se déclarer aux côtés des femmes de Gaza : “David Gilmour, Nick Mason et Roger Waters sont unis aux côtés des femmes de de la Flotille de la Liberté de Gaza, et déplorent leur arrestation illégale dans les eaux internationales, ainsi que leur détention par les forces de Défense israéliennes."
