Much interest visit IOM Afghanistan for information about voluntary return

Early July, Masood Ahmadi from IOM Afghanistan visited the Netherlands. During two weeks he informed migrants and IOM NL’s network about the situation in Afghanistan in the context of voluntary return. IOM NL regularly organizes such first-hand information visits.

The aim is to provide migrants and network partners with up-to-date information, to inform them about the role of IOM and the support IOM can offer after voluntary return in the countries of origin. Important for IOM also is to learn about current issues of concern among migrants, what factors play a role in their considerations on voluntary return and to which extent migrants and the network are familiar with IOM’s work.
There was a lot of interest for this visit. Together with IOM NL, Masood Ahmadi met various ministries, the Embassy of Afghanistan, operational partners like DT&V, COA, Nidos and VluchtelingenWerk and many Afghan migrants residing in various locations across the country. Special focus was put on unaccompanied minor children, who were informed and consulted in informal settings.
