Israeli colonial settlers on Tuesday, razed vast areas of Palestinian-owned farm lands in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

Local media outlets said that the lands razed, are located near the illegal Israeli colonial settlement of Shefout Rahel.

The sources confirmed that today’s bulldozing caused widespread harm to tens of olive trees, owned by local Palestinian farmers from Nablus city.

Previously, Israeli defense minister, Naftali Bennett, announced his government’s plan to expand the Shefout Rahel colonial settlement with another nearby colonial settlement, called Shelo.

In the area, where the bulldozing took place, there are a number of illegal colonial settlements, including Shelo, Aadi Aad, Codeish, Keda and Ahya.

    March 30, 2020 11:28 AM – IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/palestinians-cancel-land-day-march-over-coronavirus-concerns

March 30th marks Palestinian Land Day, commemorating the day on March 30, 1976, when Palestinians inside Israel protested against the Israeli government announcement of the seizure of 21,000 dunams (5,189 acres) of Palestinian land. The Israeli police violently suppressed the demonstrations, killing 6 young Palestinians, and injuring and arresting many others.

But 2020, for the first year since 1976, Palestinians will not be holding a Land Day commemorative march, due to the fear of further spreading the coronavirus COVID-19 in the crowded Palestinian Occupied Territories.

Every year, Palestinian citizens of Israel, and Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and abroad, commemorate Land Day with marches and remembrance. Land Day 2020 coincides with the two year anniversary of the launch of the weekly Great March of Return demonstrations in Gaza.

Through these demonstrations, Palestinians have been demanding their right to return to the land that is now known as Israel, as well as an end to the 13 year blockade imposed on Gaza by Israel and Egypt. (...)

    https://imemc.org/article/israeli-authorities-deny-solar-panels-greenhouses-to-palestinian-farmers-in-w

Israeli authorities banned, on Wednesday, installation of Palestinian-owned solar panels and a green house in the northern occupied West Bank area of Al-Aghwar.

Local Palestinian media sources said that an Israeli troop obstructed installation works in the Kherbet Aldeir village, within the Tubas governorate.

Palestinian chief for the Al-Aghwar rural area, Mo’taz Bsharat, told local media outlets that Israeli authorities, escorted by the military, invaded the Kherbet Aldeir village, earlier on Wednesday morning, and handed warrants to local farmers, who were attempting to install solar panels and a green house on their farm land.

Bsharat added that the warrant states that the farmers are not allowed to embark on such works, by orders of the concerned Israeli authorities.

The Al-Aghwar area is considered to be the largest Palestinian rural area that provides the West Bank population with much of its agricultural produce.

Recently, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, signalled his government’s plan to annex the Al-Aghwar area to Israel. Such a plan is in contravention to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions which state the West Bank is Palestinian territory, occupied by Israel in June, 1967.

Senior Israeli political and military officials are likely to be prosecuted before the International Criminal Court (ICC), after the court’s decision to launch an investigation into war crimes committed against Palestinians, according to a report released by Yedioth Ahronoth, on Sunday.

The newspaper pointed out that Benny Gantz, who served as a Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army during the 2014 war on Gaza, Moshe Ya’alon, who served as a Minister of Defense during the 2014 war, Gadi Eizenkot and Aviv Kochavi, who served as Chiefs of Staffs , as well as top former and current Israeli officials are all liable to prosecution on the ICC.

It also pointed out that the ICC intends to investigate PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Avigdor Lieberman, Naftali Bennett, as well as ministers responsible for construction in the settlements.

According to the newspaper, the ICC’s decision was taken after five years of preliminary examination, due to the latest developments that included Netanyahu’s announcement of his intention to apply Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley, the U.S. State Department’s statement of legalizing settlement, as well as the prosecutor’s statement that she believes Israel has committed war crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Israeli newspaper noted, according to Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency, that the Israeli government will not officially cooperate with the ICC, especially after condemning the decision by the United States.

    December 14, 2018 12:27 AM

    http://imemc.org/article/60-year-old-palestinian-man-shot-dead-by-israeli-soldiers

The Israeli military, according to Israeli media sources, has admitted that its soldiers mistakenly killed Hamdan Tawfiq Arda , 60, after initially claiming that he had deliberately tried to ram his vehicle into soldiers, in the Industrial Zone in al-Biereh city, in central West Bank.

Eyewitnesses told Maan News Agency that it looked like a car accident, and that the driver was startled by the military presence, and tried to turn away from them.

Sources added that one soldier was lightly injured, but it was not from the car driven by the Palestinian man.

The soldiers fired a barrage of live rounds at the car, fatally wounding the driver, who suffered gunshot wounds mainly to the head.

His brain and fragments of his skull were on the car seat after he was removed by the medics, before they were collected for proper burial with his body later on.

The Israeli military initially stated was an “attempt to ram his car into soldiers”, and then changed their statement, telling the Jerusalem Post that they believed it was an accident.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has confirmed that its medics were at the scene shortly after the man was shot, and added that the soldiers stopped them and prevented them from approaching him.

The slain Palestinian man was from ‘Arraba town, near the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

The Israeli military had just finished invading the Industrial Zone, in an apparent search for the suspects of the killing of two Israeli soldiers earlier Thursday.

    IMEMC News - November 15, 2018 12:30 AM
    http://imemc.org/article/long-time-palestinian-hunger-striker-khader-adnan-released-from-prison

After a 58-day hunger strike which included several days of refusing water as well as food, Khader Adnan has been freed from Israeli prison.

This was Adnan’s third such hunger strike – in 2011 he engaged in a 66-day long hunger strike, and in 2014 he again undertook a ‘hunger strike to the death’ of 55 days. He became a symbol of Palestinian hunger-striking prisoners and their steadfast resistance to the horrific conditions and brutality of Israeli detention facilities.

Adnan has been repeatedly imprisoned by Israeli authorities, who accuse him of being a member of a ‘banned organization’, Islamic Jihad. But he has never been accused of engaging in any violent action or taking part in armed resistance, simply of being considered a ‘security risk’, which has landed him in prison for months and even years at a time without specified charges. He has spent a total of eight years in Israeli prisons.

This most recent imprisonment lasted eleven months, with no charges filed against him. He is one of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held without charges under so-called ‘administrative detention’, in which Israeli authorities imprison Palestinians indefinitely with no charges or access to a legal system of trials and appeals.
