Les artistes étatuniens des années 1970 aimaient la culture nazie, au moins c’est qu’on arrive à penser quand on découvre dans Star Wars de George Lucals les plans du film sur la convention nationale du NSDAP crées par Leni Riefenstahl et la musique de la plus grande comédie musicale de 1939 dans le générique de la Muppet Show de Jim Henson .
The Muppet Show Theme is quite obviously “influenced” by the song “Ich brauche keine Millionen (Musik, Musik, Musik)” from the German musical film “Hello Janine” (1939).
But Jim Henson and the makers of The Muppet Show not only copied the melody, they also seemed to get a lot of ideas for the opening from the film.
This video shows the original music sequence (with the singing and dancing performance of Marika Rökk) from “Hello Janine” and as a juxtaposition the parts - where at least I think - The Muppet Show was inspired by the film.
This goes from the theater setting to the piano player, the line dance, the step dance up to Gonzo hitting the gong on the last note. And even Miss Piggy seems to be inspired in her diva style by Marika Rökk.
