    The Problem with Removing Dictators...

The United States and other Western powers often advocate for humanitarian intervention under the guise of being “protectors of universal human rights”. However, Pack and Hodson, the authors of this article, rightly propose that military intervention in Syria would only add to the instability and chaos.“Before embarking on a new course that might culminate in military intervention, Western leaders should review their “success rate” at militarily removing dictators.”Annan’s resignation should not be taken as failure of diplomacy. Instead, it highlights the deep internal fragmentation within Syrian society. What Syria needs is change from within: a sense of national unity and a rise of home-grown leadership.
