  • IDF general: US official accused Israel of sexually abusing Palestinians - The Jerusalem Post
    https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-793420

IDF Brig.-Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi met with the holder of the Israeli-Palestinian portfolio at the US State Department, who accused Israel of “systematically” sexually abusing Palestinian woman, the general explained in an interview on 103FM.

Recounting his meeting, he explained, “It was a meeting that shook me. We sat there, talked about the situation, and suddenly she accused Israel of systematically sexually abusing Palestinian women.”

    Avivi described his reaction.

“This is absolutely disconnected from reality. But without hesitation, she said, ’The UN presented evidence to the Israeli government.’ I told her, ’Does it make sense that this phenomenon would exist and the media would never have reported on it?’ I wanted there to be greater awareness... about what is really happening in the US State Department. In the end, I left there with the feeling that they simply don’t talk to us and don’t pass on any information.”

Is it the official US position that IDF soldiers rape Palestinian women?

"When we meet with a State Department official holding the Israeli-Palestinian portfolio, every word she utters, as far as I’m concerned, is an official US position. Ultimately, she is a government official.

  • Israel in talks with Rwanda and Chad to receive exiled Palestinians: Report
5 January 2024| Middle East Eye
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/israel-talks-rwanda-and-chad-receive-exiled-palestinians-report

Israeli officials are in secret talks with Rwanda and Chad to receive Palestinians from Gaza, the Israeli daily, Zman Yisrael reported on Friday.

Both countries expressed a basic agreement to continue talks reported Zman Yisrael, unlike many other countries that refused in principle.

On Wednesday Zman Yisrael said “Congo” seems willing to accept thousands of Palestinian refugees, although it did not say whether it was referring to the Democratic Republic of Congo or the Republic of Congo.

According to the Israeli outlet the Israeli intelligence service the Mossad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are spearheading the initiative.

“The business is very complex,” a government source told Zman Yisrael. “We must promote this channel, but be very careful of the reactions in the world and also of the fear that it will be interpreted as a transfer and not a voluntary migration. That’s why we work with close legal advice,” they added.

In principal the aim is to give give a generous financial grant to any Palestinian who expresses a desire to leave Gaza, along with extensive aid to the receiving country, including military aid.

The Israeli government is keen to say that Palestinians are not being ethnically cleansed from Gaza, but rather that the move would be a “voluntary immigration policy".

The distinction has been scrutinised because Israeli politicians have explicitly gone on the record laying out plans to make Gaza unlivable for its inhabitants and replace the population with Israeli settlers.

Similarly, there may be religious acts in which we recognize that people desire the benefits of performing the act, even if they do not want to do it. A person who has committed an inadvertent sin is required by the Torah to willingly offer a sacrifice. The Talmud asserts that we may coerce him until he chooses to perform the ritual, which seems like a contradiction. In the words of the Talmud, “We beat him until he says, ‘I consent.” The Sages explain that we assert that he desires the atonement and therefore accept his forced sacrifice as a deliberate act.

  • Why moving to the Sinai peninsula is the solution for Gaza’s Palestinians - opinion
    https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-779510

The facts demonstrate that the northern Sinai Peninsula is an ideal location to develop a spacious resettlement for the people of Gaza. Its open areas, along with the existing infrastructure, can easily host large-scale development projects that, if led by the Chinese and supported by local labor, for example, can easily mature in just one to two years.

  • Israel should make Gaza look like Auschwitz - council head
    https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-778367

Israel should be sending Palestinian Gazans fleeing the fighting to refugee camps in Lebanon, with the entire Gaza Strip being emptied and leveled and turned into a museum like the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, Metula Council head David Azoulai told 103FM.

“After October 7, instead of urging people to go south, we should direct them to the beaches. The Navy can transport them to the shores of Lebanon, where there are already sufficient refugee camps. Then, a security strip should be established from the sea to the Gaza border fence, completely empty, as a reminder of what was once there. It should resemble the Auschwitz concentration camp,” he said in an interview with Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal.

« Metula » settlement head : Hezbollah disabled our infrastructure
      https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/metula-settlement-head--hezbollah-disabled-our-infrastructur

Azoulai questioned how the civilian infrastructure in Lebanon along the border, including a quarry located 70 meters north of “Metula”, could function when all Israeli infrastructure within 4 kilometers of the border remains inoperable due to Hezbollah.

In turn, the Israeli newspaper “Maariv” pointed out that the Lebanese Hezbollah “drove out settlers from the north,” confirming that it is engaging in a battle against a force composed of three units affiliated with the Israeli army. The newspaper also noted that the Israeli army has strengthened its forces in northern occupied Palestine in recent weeks due to Hezbollah’s targeting of settlements and sites.

Reports note that the Israeli occupation authorities evacuated new settlements in northern occupied Palestine on Friday, indicating that these settlements had not been evacuated since 1948.

As reported earlier by the Israeli media, there is a growing concern among settlers in the north about returning to their homes. They have levied accusations against the occupation government, accusing it of abandoning them.

  • Border surveillance footage from 7 October ’disappears’: Israeli officers

Israeli reserve officers say surveillance video and audio recordings from the Gaza border during the Hamas attack have been deleted, potentially to prevent an investigation into what happened that day

Israeli military surveillance video from the Gaza border from 7 October, the day of Hamas’ surprise attack, has disappeared, Israeli news site Walla reported [ https://news.walla.co.il/item/3626341 ] on 3 December.

During a visit by a senior female officer from the Israeli army general staff to the various division headquarters, senior officers in the reserves commented that “an invisible hand” had deleted videos from the various military surveillance cameras showing the events of that day, the Hebrew language outlet stated.

The videos were deleted from the military network known as “ZeeTube,” potentially to prevent their use in an in-depth investigation of how thousands of Hamas fighters managed to breach the border fence and infiltrate Israel to carry out the attack.

“We sat down with one of the generals and were going to show him a video about one of the events, and we found out that someone had deleted the videos,” said a senior reserve officer from one of the divisions, adding, “It was very embarrassing. Then suspicion arose as to why someone would do that. And at the end the excuses started that it was decided to give special privileges to certain officers to view the footage. Do officers in our ranks need privileges? It looks like a war between generals and officials. There is a feeling that everyone is now trying to take care of themselves for the day after,” when an investigation into events of that day takes place.

Israeli officials, including top generals and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have acknowledged the Hamas attack, in which 1,200 Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed, resulted from an intelligence failure. However, they insist the events of that day cannot be investigated until after the war in Gaza, in which some 20,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombing, ends. (...)

The surveillance camera footage along the Gaza border from October 7 has not been deleted or missing, the IDF announced on Sunday evening after speculations about the security footage vanishing started floating around.

Victory is an opportunity for Israel in the midst of crisis - opinion
    https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-773713

Albert Einstein was quoted as saying: “In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.”

    […]

ANOTHER OPTION is to promote the voluntary resettlement of Palestinians in Gaza, for humanitarian reasons, outside of the Strip.

It is important that those who seek a life elsewhere be provided with that opportunity. Some world leaders are already discussing a worldwide refugee resettlement scheme and saying they would welcome Gazans to their countries. This could be supported by many nations around the world, especially those that claim to be friends of the Palestinians.

This is an opportunity for those who say they support the Palestinian people to show these are not just empty words.

    […]

Instead of funneling money to rebuild Gaza or to the failed UNRWA, the international community can assist in the costs of resettlement, helping the people of Gaza build new lives in their new host countries.

Netanyahu unveils ’new Middle East,’ but without Palestinians

The second map, which portrayed the year 2023 had seven countries in Green, including Israel and Saudi Arabia. It was meant to illustrate how Israel now had friends in the region and how a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia would expand that.

But the map that Netanyahu used, includes all the territory the Palestinians believe should be part of the borders of their future state. This includes the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem. The latter is under Israeli sovereignty, but the West Bank is outside those sovereign borders. It is divided into three sections Areas A and B which is under the governmental auspices of the Palestinian Authority and Area C, which is under IDF military and civilian rule. The Israeli Right including members of Netanyahu’s government wants to annex Area C. Israel had agreed to suspend annexation plans in exchange for the Abraham Accords.

Netanyahu used the map to illustrate a new era of peace in the Middle East that would include the Palestinians, but his critics said the map sent the opposite message.

    https://www.slate.fr/story/251869/plus-vieilles-synagogue-ancienne-archeologie-decouverte-grece-antique-russie

"For 57 years there has been no democracy" in the West Bank, Amiram Levin said. “There is absolute apartheid there.”

Former IDF Northern Command commander Amiram Levin stated that there has been “absolute apartheid” in the West Bank for the past 57 years, during an interview with KAN Reshet Bet radio on Sunday morning.

“[Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] is sharp and he has always been sharp, but he’s startled by the case against him and the too-long years in power have done their work. There is no one who stays in power that long and doesn’t fall to the sin of hubris, who isn’t surrounded by sycophants instead of serious people who would give him a real picture of things,” said Levin.

“A Messianic, criminal group who graduated from the hilltop youth took advantage of his weakness, people who do not even understand what democracy is. They came from the West Bank. For 57 years there has been no democracy there. There is absolute apartheid there. The IDF against its will has to enforce sovereignty there and is standing by and watching the rampant settlers and is beginning to be complicit in war crimes. This is 10 times worse than the issue of [the IDF] being ready and training hours. Walk around Hebron and you will see streets where Arabs cannot walk, just like what happened in Germany.”

“I am not pitying the Palestinians, I am pitying us. We are killing ourselves from within. Bibi failed here. He placed criminals and draft dodgers in key positions who, in a civilized country would be sitting behind bars.”

Levin served in the IDF from 1965-1998, starting as a paratrooper and finishing as commander of Northern Command. Levin also served as deputy head of the Mossad.

Levin in 2017: ’We’ll tear the Palestinians apart if they don’t accept a peace deal’
In an interview with Maariv in 2017, Amiram stated that the Palestinians “deserved the occupation,” adding that any peace negotiations should not return to the ’67 lines.

“If they don’t want to move forward with [Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas]’s leadership, which is probably incapable, a young leadership will come, one that ate shit, sat in prison, and saw that it is impossible to beat us. We will give them a carrot in the shape of a country, and if they don’t want it, we’ll tear them apart. I too would like the complete Land of Israel. Many times I say that if they violate agreements, the next time we fight they will not stay here, we will throw them across the Jordan. This is how you have to fight. We were too kind in ’67.”

Levin’s support for Breaking the Silence
In 2015, Levin expressed support for the Breaking the Silence organization - an organization that publishes anonymous testimonies from veterans concerning abuse and vandalism in operations by Israeli security forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip - stating that it “strengthens our morality.”

“Under the difficult conditions imposed on the IDF, it must struggle every day to encourage and maintain a high morale level,” added Levin at the time. “Breaking the Silence protects IDF soldiers in the impossible position the politicians have placed them.”

“The IDF must encourage Breaking the Silence and those like them to make their voice heard without fear among the IDF and Israeli society (and only within the IDF and Israeli society),” continued the former IDF official’s statement. “As a person who was once a combat soldier and a commander, and today is a father to two combat officers who served in the paratroopers and saw with their own eyes, I am breaking the silence.”

    https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/article-733960

The Saudi-Iran deal is a dangerous development that strips Israel of its regional defensive wall against Iran, former Prime Minister Yair Lapid said on Friday.

“The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran reflects the complete and dangerous failure of the Israeli government’s foreign policy,” Lapid said as he used the moment to attack Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations on Friday after talks in Beijing between top security officials from the two rival Middle East powers, Iranian state media reported on Friday.

“As a result of the talks, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to resume diplomatic relations and re-open embassies...within two months,” Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

Israeli politicians immediately expressed concern as the move appeared to throw a monkey wrench in one of Netanyahu’s new government’s chief policy initiatives — to normalize ties with Saudi Arabia.

Israel has presumed that the necessity of creating a Gulf alliance between Israel and its Arab partners against Iran, would help provide an incentive for the establishment of ties between Israel and the Jewish state.

“Countries in the world and the region are watching Israel in turmoil over the dysfunctional government that is engaged in systematic self-destruction.”
    Former prime minister Naftali Bennett

“This is what happens when one deals with legal insanity all day instead of doing one’s job against Iran and strengthening relations with the United States,” he added.

How would diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran impact Israel?
    Former prime minister reacts

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett called news of the renewed Iran-Saudi alliance a “serious and dangerous development for Israel” and a “political victory for Iran.”

“This delivers a fatal blow to efforts to build a regional coalition against Iran,” said Bennett.

He used the moment to attack Netanyahu charging the Iran-Saudi alliance reflected the “resounding failure of the Netanyahu government and stems from a combination of political neglect with the country’s general weakness and internal conflict.”

“Countries in the world and the region are watching Israel in turmoil over the dysfunctional government that is engaged in systematic self-destruction,” Bennett said adding in this case one of those countries chose a side.

“Netanyahu government is a resounding economic, political and security failure, and every day of its existence endangers the State of Israel.

“We need a broad national emergency government, which will work to repair the damage,” Bennett added.
Bad for Israel, bad for the world

Former defense minister Benny Gantz commented on renewed diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, stating that it was a cause for concern and a development that cannot be ignored. Gantz criticized the prime minister, stating that “the enormous security challenges facing the country are increasing and the Prime Minister and his cabinet are busy with a coup d’état.”

Gantz added that he believed the security of Israel and its citizens had been abandoned by Netanyahu.

Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein said the alliance was “bad for Israel and the entire free world.”

    Experts weigh in

Iranian expert Danny (Dennis) Citrinowicz from the Institute of National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University tweeted that the new alliance was a message to Israel that its dream of a regional alliance was not feasible and never had been.

It underscored the point that most of the countries in the region view dialogue as the best way to deal with Iran, leaving Israel as the sole country that is focused on a military option.

Analyst and former MK Ksenia Svetlova of the Mitvim, the Israeli Regional Institute for Foreign Policy noted on Twitter that “Saudi Arabia is normalizing relations. No, not with Israel but rather with Iran” while it has rebuked Israel publicly for its treatment of the Palestinians.

“Only two months ago, Netanyahu promised to bring peace with Saudi Arabia. We seem to be moving in the opposite direction,” she wrote.

The American Bar Association (ABA) passed a contentious resolution on antisemitism on Monday but removed a reference to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition from the final revised vote. […]

This revision of the resolution is a result of a major campaign waged by extremist anti-Israel groups, incl. Human Rights Watch (HRW), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and others. A letter was sent to (ABA) in January calling for the rejection of a resolution on antisemitism that endorsed the international-consensus IHRA Working Definition of antisemitism. The letter was written on behalf of organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union, Americans for Peace Now, Center for Constitutional Rights, Foundation for Middle East Peace and Palestine Legal.

    https://www.centre-al-forqane.be/jenna-ortega-de-wednesday-montre-son-soutien-a-la-palestine-au-yem

Jenna Ortega vs. Kanye : Whose antisemitic hate is worse ? | Daniel Margolis | The Blogs
    https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/jenna-ortega-vs-kanye-whose-antisemitic-hate-is-worse

    https://www.lemonde.fr/international/article/2022/12/03/kanye-west-fait-l-eloge-d-hitler-et-embarrasse-le-parti-republicain_6152760_

From Jew vilification to the delegitimization of Israel - opinion - The Jerusalem Post
    https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-726339

Making matters worse, influencers and celebrities can reach three, four, or even ten times the number of all Jews on the planet, spreading incorrect information. They share inaccurate content out of ignorance (like the star of Netflix’s hit show Wednesday, Jenna Ortega) or out of pure malice (like antisemite Kanye West).

NewMed Energy is investing in Morocco, said Abu, in three areas – natural gas, renewable energy, and hydrogen. “We believe that Morocco has a vast potential for natural gas discoveries, primarily in the Moroccan Sahara,” he said.

NewMed has recently signed an agreement with Enline, Israel’s leading renewable energy company, and will be working with them in MENA countries, including Morocco. The company is also involved in the extensive development of green and blue hydrogen in the region. “We are supplying an enormous amount of energy to our region, we want to be an important player in Morocco, and we are coming to invest,” he said.

Par Emanuel Fabian mardi 16 août 09:59 - The Times of Israël
    https://fr.timesofisrael.com/un-soldat-israelien-tue-par-un-tir-ami-pres-de-tulkarem
