Netanyahu unveils ’new Middle East,’ but without Palestinians
The second map, which portrayed the year 2023 had seven countries in Green, including Israel and Saudi Arabia. It was meant to illustrate how Israel now had friends in the region and how a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia would expand that.
But the map that Netanyahu used, includes all the territory the Palestinians believe should be part of the borders of their future state. This includes the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem. The latter is under Israeli sovereignty, but the West Bank is outside those sovereign borders. It is divided into three sections Areas A and B which is under the governmental auspices of the Palestinian Authority and Area C, which is under IDF military and civilian rule. The Israeli Right including members of Netanyahu’s government wants to annex Area C. Israel had agreed to suspend annexation plans in exchange for the Abraham Accords.
Netanyahu used the map to illustrate a new era of peace in the Middle East that would include the Palestinians, but his critics said the map sent the opposite message.
West Bank ’apartheid’ is ’just like Nazi Germany’ - former IDF commander - Israel News - The Jerusalem Post
▻https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-754560
"For 57 years there has been no democracy" in the West Bank, Amiram Levin said. “There is absolute apartheid there.”
Former IDF Northern Command commander Amiram Levin stated that there has been “absolute apartheid” in the West Bank for the past 57 years, during an interview with KAN Reshet Bet radio on Sunday morning.
“[Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] is sharp and he has always been sharp, but he’s startled by the case against him and the too-long years in power have done their work. There is no one who stays in power that long and doesn’t fall to the sin of hubris, who isn’t surrounded by sycophants instead of serious people who would give him a real picture of things,” said Levin.
“A Messianic, criminal group who graduated from the hilltop youth took advantage of his weakness, people who do not even understand what democracy is. They came from the West Bank. For 57 years there has been no democracy there. There is absolute apartheid there. The IDF against its will has to enforce sovereignty there and is standing by and watching the rampant settlers and is beginning to be complicit in war crimes. This is 10 times worse than the issue of [the IDF] being ready and training hours. Walk around Hebron and you will see streets where Arabs cannot walk, just like what happened in Germany.”
“I am not pitying the Palestinians, I am pitying us. We are killing ourselves from within. Bibi failed here. He placed criminals and draft dodgers in key positions who, in a civilized country would be sitting behind bars.”
Levin served in the IDF from 1965-1998, starting as a paratrooper and finishing as commander of Northern Command. Levin also served as deputy head of the Mossad.

credit: AVRAHAM SASSONILevin in 2017: ’We’ll tear the Palestinians apart if they don’t accept a peace deal’
In an interview with Maariv in 2017, Amiram stated that the Palestinians “deserved the occupation,” adding that any peace negotiations should not return to the ’67 lines.
“If they don’t want to move forward with [Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas]’s leadership, which is probably incapable, a young leadership will come, one that ate shit, sat in prison, and saw that it is impossible to beat us. We will give them a carrot in the shape of a country, and if they don’t want it, we’ll tear them apart. I too would like the complete Land of Israel. Many times I say that if they violate agreements, the next time we fight they will not stay here, we will throw them across the Jordan. This is how you have to fight. We were too kind in ’67.”
Levin’s support for Breaking the Silence
In 2015, Levin expressed support for the Breaking the Silence organization - an organization that publishes anonymous testimonies from veterans concerning abuse and vandalism in operations by Israeli security forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip - stating that it “strengthens our morality.”
“Under the difficult conditions imposed on the IDF, it must struggle every day to encourage and maintain a high morale level,” added Levin at the time. “Breaking the Silence protects IDF soldiers in the impossible position the politicians have placed them.”
“The IDF must encourage Breaking the Silence and those like them to make their voice heard without fear among the IDF and Israeli society (and only within the IDF and Israeli society),” continued the former IDF official’s statement. “As a person who was once a combat soldier and a commander, and today is a father to two combat officers who served in the paratroopers and saw with their own eyes, I am breaking the silence.”

The American Bar Association (ABA) passed a contentious resolution on antisemitism on Monday but removed a reference to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition from the final revised vote. […]
This revision of the resolution is a result of a major campaign waged by extremist anti-Israel groups, incl. Human Rights Watch (HRW), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and others. A letter was sent to (ABA) in January calling for the rejection of a resolution on antisemitism that endorsed the international-consensus IHRA Working Definition of antisemitism. The letter was written on behalf of organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union, Americans for Peace Now, Center for Constitutional Rights, Foundation for Middle East Peace and Palestine Legal.

▻https://www.lorientlejour.com/article/1277893/discussions-entre-la-fifa-et-israel-sur-une-coupe-du-monde-co-organis
Sylvan Adams: ’FIFA should hold a regional World Cup in Israel in 2030’

In a one-on-one interview with Jerusalem Post editor-in-chief Yaakov Katz, Sylvan Adams, philanthropist, businessman and Israel’s “self-appointed ambassador for the State of Israel,” discussed his role in helping 41 Afghan women cyclists flee Taliban rule, as well as his continued efforts to promote Israel through sports and entertainment.
Adams, the co-owner of the Israel Cycling Academy, founder of the Israeli national cycling team, Israel Start-Up Nation, and known for his humanitarian work, was contacted and asked to help save the Afghan cyclists. He reached out to Israeli NGO IsraAid, together with the organization, devised a plan to help the women cyclists and others escape. Adams said that the entire operation resembled a spy novel brought to life.
Eventually, the group of 165 people was extracted safely from Afghanistan and are now in the United Arab Emirates.
Adams next discussed his efforts to promote Israel through sport and entertainment. “My projects speak to the ‘silent majority,’ which is most people, who are apolitical,” noted Adams. “I bring Israel to the silent majority,” he added.
At the interview’s conclusion, Adams hinted of a new project he is seeking to coordinate between FIFA, Israel and Abraham Accord partners to arrange a regional World Cup in 2030 in the Middle East. Turning to Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman, Adams said, “I am willing to help, as I did with the Giro d’Italia race, but we need the government’s help.”
Post-COVID: ‘It is heartbreaking to watch your child suffer’ - The Jerusalem Post

He told The Jerusalem Post that while some of these children need intensive care treatment – they could even be hooked up to an ECMO machine that helps pump and oxygenate their blood outside the body, allowing the heart and lungs to rest – they usually recover.
“We recently had a child who was 10-years-old and he was on ECMO for three or four days and now he is doing very well,” Ben-Ari shared as an example.
Rather, what worries doctors more today is another phenomenon that seems to be increasingly striking the country’s children: “post-COVID” or “long-COVID” – less severe symptoms, but after effects of the virus that are turning children’s lives upside down.
According to Liat Ashkenazi-Hoffnung of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit in Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, while there are few PIMS patients, post-COVID affects many more children and teens who had mild or even asymptomatic cases of coronavirus.
There is a long list of long-COVID symptoms and they can range from minor to severe, Ashkenazi-Hoffnung explained.
The Centers for Disease Control recently compiled a list that includes the following: fatigue, shortness of breath, coughing, joint pain and chest pain, difficulty concentrating (brain fog), depression, headaches, intermittent fever and heart palpitations.
More serious long-term effects, which are currently being explored, include inflammation of the heart muscle, lung abnormalities, kidney injury, rashes and hair loss, neurological issues such as smell and taste problems, insomnia and psychiatric issues, including depression, anxiety and changes in mood.
“They are not life threatening [symptoms],” Ashkenazi-Hoffnung said, “but they are life-altering.”
She told about one of her teen patients that lost 25% of her body weight – 30 kilos – after she was COVID-free. The child became vitamin and nutrient deficient and she was always exhausted.

Oh, on tient un vedette, là :
“The Bible and other ancient religious texts is what has driven archeology in this region,” Stripling said, proud to hold the holy book in one hand and a shovel in his other. “We have to recognize the validity of the Bible… I am comfortable with the biblical story – and now we have proof of that story, really.”
There are essentially two schools when it comes to biblical archaeology: maximalists and minimalists.
“Maximalists are those who really dig with one hand and read the Bible with the other,” explained Jacob Wright, a professor of Hebrew Bible at Emory University in Atlanta. “They see the Bible as primary source on par with the archaeological witness.”
In contrast, Minimalists, he said, try to disconnect their findings from the holy text and often have a political agenda of delegitimizing the modern State of Israel.

The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians is about the map — who gets what and how much of historic Palestine. US Secretary of State John Kerry may well have an opinion about this — it is hard to believe that he does not — but President Barack Obama’s White House has yet to decide whether to break with the history of the last four decades and draw an American picture of what the states of Israel and Palestine should look like.
No such hesitation is to be found among the Palestine Liberation Organization and its chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, the signatories to the Arab Peace Initiative or members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). They accept the June 4, 1967, border as the line dividing the state of Israel from the yet-to-be-created state of Palestine. They are prepared to consider modifications to this map, the so-called land swaps, not because they want to, but in order to satisfy Israel’s territorial demands over this demarcation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech Monday that he billed as showing “something that the world has never seen.” He vowed to provide evidence of Iran’s duplicity over its nuclear program, and especially its obligations to the nuclear agreement Tehran signed in 2015 with the world’s powers. But much of the speech concerned details of Iran’s covert nuclear program from the years 1999 to 2003, and it provided no smoking-gun evidence that those programs were continuing in violation of the deal—something that would have given Donald Trump’s administration the justification it might be looking for to withdraw from it.
Here’s what the speech, which was made mostly in English (ostensibly for a Western audience), did say about Iran’s nuclear program.

Netanyahu may be trying the same thing, hoping he can get some political points in the lead up to the election and hoping that he can get international diplomats to keep it from escalating into a practical problem, and then try to get more credit for being able to aggress against most of his neighbors with impunity.

“What Kushner wanted... was for the Saudis and Emiratis to provide economic assistance to the Palestinians,” Ward wrote. “There were plans for an oil pipeline from Saudi Arabia to Gaza, where refineries and a shipping terminal could be built. The profits would create desalination plants, where Palestinians could find work, addressing the high unemployment rate.”
Ward said that the plan also included land swaps, where Jordan would give land to the Palestinian territories, and “in return, Jordan would get land from Saudi Arabia, and that country would get back two Red Sea islands it gave Egypt to administer in 1950.”
Jason Greenblatt, the White House’s Mideast envoy, tweeted late Wednesday that the book’s claims about Kushner’s peace plan are false.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel’s regular allowing of Qatari funds to be transferred into Gaza, saying it is part of a broader strategy to keep Hamas and the Palestinian Authority separate, a source in Monday’s Likud faction meeting said.

The prime minister also said that, “whoever is against a Palestinian state should be for” transferring the funds to Gaza, because maintaining a separation between the PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza helps prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Egyptian super-star Mohamed Salah has allegedly threatened to leave Premier League football club Liverpool if Arab-Israeli soccer player Moanes Dabour joins the team, Israeli media reported.
According the report, Salah said that he will leave Liverpool should Dabour be signed.
However, people close to the Egyptian athlete said he needs to be left alone to focus on playing soccer and that he is a professional, and it is not his concern with whom Liverpool is discussing a possible contract.
In the past Salah, refused to shake hands with Israeli players with the pretext of tying his shoes during a game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and FC Basel, his team at the time.
Former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman tweeted in April, in jest, that he would recruit Salah to the Israeli army after seeing how he led Liverpool to a 5-2 victory over Roma.
