Commentaire de #Nando_Sigona :
Why are a few dozen people crossing the English Channel a #majorincident?
What is the UK gov deeply concerned about? Somehow I feel it is not the dreadful conditions that my push someone to attempt a certainly dangerous sea journey they are concerned about.
Why would the French authorities want to cooperate with the UK gov on this issue especially in the context of a looming hard Brexit? It is clearly not a French problem (as they have many more thousands asylum seekers and refugees in France to look after)
Crossing the Channel is dangerous especially in the winter, an increase in arrivals is evidence of a) lack of alternative routes for people in seek of protection or a better life; b) worsening of the situation in countries of origin; c) worsening of the situation in the EU
as it is now custom the BBC just takes the narrative of the government at face value
Sea crossings are more visible than other types of irregular entry. An increase in detection at sea doesn’t mean that there are more or less irregular entries than before.
Interesting point scoring against @sajidjavid on an otherwise ’normal’ #DailyMail front page
So it looks that eventually Britain has got her (tiny) #migrationcrisis Quite handy as a distraction in the crucial weeks for #Brexit; and voter pleaser for Theresa May.
But the May’s Deal supporting Daily Mail wants to make sure she is the only one benefiting from the ’crisis’, not her internal rival Javid.
