  • Four Israelis, Two Palestinians Killed Near Eli Colony in West Bank
    Jun 21, 2023 - IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/four-israelis-two-palestinians-killed-near-eli-colony-in-west-bank

On the same day that Israeli troops killed four Palestinians in the northern West Bank, a shooting attack at a gas station resulted in the deaths of four Israelis and the wounding of four others. One of the Palestinians was shot and killed at the shooting scene, and the other was killed two hours later by Israeli soldiers.

The Israelis who were killed in the attack were identified as Elisha Antman, 18, from Eli colony; Harel Masoud, 21, from Yad Binyamin; Nachman Shmuel Mordoff, 17, from Ahiya, and Ofer Feierman, 63, from Eli colony.

Of the wounded, one was listed as seriously wounded, while three were wounded lightly.

The shooters were identified as Mohannad Shahada, 26, who was killed on site by an Israeli paramilitary colonial settler, and Khaled Sabah, 24, who managed to escape from the scene of the shooting but was pursued by Israeli soldiers who killed him and wounded another Palestinian civilian.

According to eyewitnesses, the two Palestinians drove up to the gas station, entered a restaurant attached to the gas station, and shot at the Israelis who were dining there, killing four people and wounding four.

Israeli media reported that the two Palestinian shooters had been imprisoned together at the Israeli prison of Megiddo two and a half years ago.

After the attack, the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, praised the shooting, saying the shooting was “a response to Israel’s crimes carried out at the Jenin refugee camp and the aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The struggle won’t stop until our people are free and independent.”

The Israeli army later invaded Orif town, south of Nablus, before storming the family homes of the two Palestinians and took measurements of the properties to prepare for demolishing them as part of Israel’s collective punishment policies, illegal under International Law and all related human rights treaties, including the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Israeli daily Haaretz said that while this attack could lead to accelerated operations to prepare for a large-scale military offensive in the West Bank, such an offensive would occur due to political leadership pressure.

Haaretz said the offensive, which would be dubbed Guardian of the Walls II, which refers to the original operation in 2021, could be different than what its name suggests but likely a limited offensive that would last for a few days “to calm things on the ground,” and to appease demands from the Israeli right-wing.

      https://www.chroniquepalestine.com/tuer-mohammed-tamimi-deux-ans-norme-pour-occupant-israelien

    Jun 5, 2023 - IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/family-buries-slain-son-israeli-soldiers-killed-in-april

Late Sunday night, the family of Hatem As’ad Abu Najma, 39, held the funeral ceremony and burial of their slain son, whom a paramilitary Israeli colonizer killed on April 24, 2023, in occupied Jerusalem.

Media sources said only the immediate family and a few Palestinians were allowed to attend due to Israeli restrictions and preconditions.

After allowing the release of the slain man’s corpse, dozens of soldiers and police officers surrounded many parts of occupied Jerusalem, especially Bab Al-Asbat Graveyard and all streets leading to it.

The soldiers and officers kept the entire area closed and isolated to prevent the Palestinians in the area from attending the funeral and lifted the siege after the burial was concluded.

Every person who attended the funeral was ordered to wear an electronic bracelet to track their movement and ensure they do not leave designated routes and areas.

Only 25 Palestinians were allowed to attend the funeral; they were barred from carrying flags or posters, were not allowed to march and chant before or after the funeral, and were ordered to disperse immediately afterward.
The family was also ordered not to receive condolences from anybody in any public area and only to welcome a limited number of mourners in their home.

It is worth mentioning that the paramilitary colonizer killed Abu Najma on April 24, 2023, after he reportedly injured seven Israelis in what the army called a ramming attack.

A video from the scene shows the colonizer shooting the Palestinian man through the closed side window of his car while he posed no threat or even attempted to leave it.

Hatem was a married father of five children from Beit Safafa town, south of occupied Jerusalem.

    May 23, 2023 - IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/israeli-army-shuts-down-water-lines-leading-to-bardala-village

On Tuesday, the Israeli army shut down water lines that provide the Palestinian village of Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank, with daily water it needs.

Human rights activist Aref Daraghmeh said soldiers invaded the village and shut down the water lines for the tenth time in two years.

Daaghma stated that the Palestinian residents in Bardala and other communities in the Jordan Valley suffer from a constant lack of access to sufficient quantities of water due to Israel’s control of the vast majority of water resources in the Jordan Valley through the Israeli “Mekorot” water company.

He added that the Palestinians receive the bare minimum of the water they need for their daily needs and for their agricultural lands, while the surrounding illegal Israeli colonies have uninterrupted and abundant access to water.

Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”

The Palestinians were killed and injured when a large military force, in many armored vehicles, invaded the refugee camp at dawn, leading to protests, before the soldiers fired a barrage of live rounds, in addition to many rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

The soldiers also detonated three Palestinian homes during the invasion, including a home owned by the local Abu Shallal family.

The Palestinian TV said the soldiers did not inform the families, living near the homes, about their intention to detonate the properties.

The explosions caused serious damage not only to the targeted homes but also to the surrounding properties, especially the ones above the properties in the same building.

Many surrounding homes sustained considerable property damage, especially since the refugee camp is densely populated with narrow alleys and attached properties. (...)
