According to Ahmad Hiyasat, an expert in the energy sector, the move will eventually lead to saving and reducing the cost of power generation by distributing the demand on electricity throughout the day.
“When people wake up and it is dark, they will turn the lights on and maybe electric heaters too, while in the morning hours when it is still dark businesses will be closed,” he said.
“When the demand on electricity peaks, authorities resort to using incompetent power generation units. Using these units increases the cost of power generation. However, when the demand on power is distributed throughout the day, there will be no need to use these units,” Hiyasat told The Jordan Times.
