In this film, musician and activist Pravini Baboeram tells the story of resistance against racism in Europe through music. The film is based on the music album which is written and produced by Pravini. With the nine songs from the album Pravini connects the struggle against blackface, the struggle for the recognition of colonial crimes committed by the Netherlands in Indonesia, the struggle for the liberation of Palestine and the struggle in the political field for an inclusive society. In this way ‘The Uprising’ offers a unique view of the resistance movement against racism in Europe through the eyes of people of colour.
