Local, international and Arab banks operating in Jordan on Sunday decided to cover the costs of the government’s direct cash support for their employees to replace fuel subsidies.

Khaled Tbeishat, a household appliances vendor in Irbid, said that many people cannot afford to buy gas cylinders at the new price, so he decided to launch an initiative, where donors can support families in need by paying the price difference of JD3.5.
“This effort is the least I can do to support Jordanians and express my loyalty to Jordan. What I care about is the stability of my beloved country,” he told The Jordan Times over the phone Sunday.
