Desmond Dekker’s international hit single, taken from its original 1968 Jamaican release as the A-side of Beverley’s S.R. 059. It was licensed to Pyramid’s J.J. label in the U.K. who released it with the adjusted title “Israelites,” and it became a #1 hit. Uni Records picked it up for the U.S. where it peaked at #9 on the ’Billboard’ Hot 100 singles chart.

The original Jamaican release features a longer fadeout than other pressings, and the bass is louder.
