This disturbing image shows the back of the head of a child or young man as seen in the crosshairs of a rifle. The photo was posted on the personal Instagram account of Mor Ostrovski, a 20-year old Israeli soldier in a sniper unit.

Additif : Le 17 février, l’armée israélienne a déclaré que la photo du sniper présentée par The Electronic Intifada est un « incident grave ».
La photo en tête de cet envoi, d’un enfant dans la ligne de visée d’un sniper israélien, publiée sur le compte Instragram du soldat israélien Mor Ostrovski, s’est répandue sur Internet et les médias dans le monde entier après sa publication par The Electronic Intifada. Maintenant, l’armée israélienne est contrainte d’apporter une réponse.
Le Ynet d’Israël rapporte :
Le bureau du porte-parole de l’armée israélienne a déclaré que « c’était un incident grave qui ne s’accorde pas avec l’esprit et les valeurs des FDI. La question a été portée à l’attention des officiers commandant le soldat, et elle sera examinée et traitée correctement. »
Il s’agit de deux incidents récents de soldats israéliens envoyant des images illicites sur les médias sociaux, indique le site.

The Israeli veterans’ group Breaking the Silence, which collects testimony from soldiers who have served in the Palestinian territories first occupied by Israel in 1967, posted a screenshot of the photograph on Facebook ▻http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=537146692974245&set=a.228765083812409.69297.163056727049912 side by side with a very similar image “taken by another Israeli soldier in Hebron in 2003.”
In a statement on the two images, the veterans wrote:
Both pictures are testaments to the abuse of power rooted in the military control of another people. Ten years have passed. Technology and media have changed. The distribution of images has changed. But the exaggerated sense of power and the blatant disregard for human life and dignity have remained: this is what occupation looks like.

Two years ago, after a female soldier gained International infamy for posting Facebook photos of herself standing next to handcuffed and blindfolded Palestinian detainees, the IDF vowed to discipline those who post such content on social networks.
But the Guardian points out ▻http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/18/israeli-soldier-posts-instagram-palestinian that in all incidents since a short stint in military prison “was deemed adequate and criminal investigations dropped.”
