On March 29th, The Freedom Theatre’s Freedom Bus together with the South Hebron Hills Popular Struggle Committee organised a solidarity walk through the South Hebron Hills. The walk brought together over 150 artists, activists, community leaders and students from Palestine and abroad. Participants attempted to walk through Mufaqara, Tuba, a-Sfay, Maghayir al-Abeed and al-Fakhit - five of eight communities facing forced eviction within the “918 Firing Zone” – an area of the South Hebron Hills used by the Israeli Forces for military training. 1000 people living in this region have been issued with eviction orders. During the walk, Luke Nephew, peace poet and hip hop artist from the US was detained by Israeli forces. He was later informed that he would be placed under house arrest and then deported. Luke’s arrest followed the attempted arrest of Abu Mosa and other leaders of the popular struggle movement in the South Hebron Hills.

The Israeli forces attempted to stop the walk altogether, and attacked and injured several participants. Alia Alrosan, coordinator of the Freedom Bus, had her arm twisted, Sonja de Vries, international participant had her leg twisted and others were hit in the head with rifle butts.
