I marocchini hanno compiuto il gesto per esprimere il disagio per i tempi di permanenza nella struttura. Il 21 dicembre scorso, altri 11 magrebini avevano fatto la stessa cosa. Il garante dei detenuti del Lazio: «Il tempo della politica scorre più lentamente rispetto a quello di questi uomini»

Des immigrés clandestins marocains se cousent les lèvres pour protester contre leur détention
A l’aide d’un fil extrait d’une couverture et d’une petite aiguille, 13 immigrés marocains, se sont cousus les lèvres. La raison : protester contre leur détention prolongée dans un centre d’accueil pour migrants sans-papiers à Porta Galaria, une banlieue de Rome en Italie.
Ce geste spectaculaire n’est malheureusement pas le premier dans le genre. Un acte similaire s’était déjà produit en décembre 2013 dans ce même centre. Cette nouvelle illustration du sort des migrants illégaux, montre que rien n’a été fait par les autorités italiennes pour améliorer la situation de ces immigrés clandestins qui réclament une révision des lois et une facilitation du droit d’asile.
Selon nos confères de RFI, le maire adjoint de Rome aurait déclaré, après cette nouvelle protestation, qu’il est urgent de mettre fin « à cette situation honteuse » en changeant les lois sur l’immigration. L’Italie avait déjà fait parler d’elle après une vidéo sur le scandale de Lampedusa, dans laquelle on voit les traitements épouvantables qu’elle inflige aux migrants.

Les centres de détention italiens n’en finissent plus de scandaliser. Treize migrants marocains ont décidé de protester contre les mauvais traitements subis dans ces « prisons » en se cousant les lèvres.

Greek authorities call them migrant pre-removal facilities, but they look more like prisons. Many of the residents are locked up not for committing a crime, but rather simply for trying to get asylum in Europe. For this, they say they’re held months, packed scores to a room, and often beaten.
“We didn’t have any choice so we started a hunger strike, we sewed up our mouth and we stopped eating and drinking,” said Farhad, who has asked not to be identified, fearing retribution for speaking out. “Anyone will do whatever it takes to get his freedom. Some people have tried to commit suicide to get free, others went crazy in there.”
Farhad was just 17 when he made it to Greece from Afghanistan. He says he was held at a detention center in Corinth Greece for 14 months before finally getting political asylum in December.
“In general you are afraid there, terrified,” he said. “When the police would attack us in there they didn’t care who is who, anyone in front of them could become a victim. We were frightened and everyone was hiding under the beds.”
Some 6,500 migrants are currently held in Greek immigration detention centers, co-funded by the European Union as part of an effort to limit immigration. The European Court of Human Rights, the EU’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and NGOs have repeatedly called conditions in these centers inhuman and degrading.
