ARCHIVE SPECIAL ! The Remake Film Festival
▻https://www.mydylarama.org.uk/ARCHIVE-SPECIAL-The-Remake-Film-Festival
To mark our editor Judy’s return to Mydylarama after completing her epic PHD, here’s one of her older cracking reviews and an opportunity to revisit the wonderful concept behind the Remake Film Festival. As Hollywood’s fiscal calculations ensure it pumps out sequels, prequels and trilogies (etc.), the Remake film festival sets out a different relationship between box office hits and contemporary production. Filmmakers from around the world are invited to reimagine, reinterpret or remake (...) #Festivals

▻https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4EO4nr3e_U

The series AFTERMATH displays scenes from a world that can appear strangely familiar and unknown at the same time. A dual colour palette, combined with foggy motives, creates images that can appear both aesthetically pleasing as well as dramatic. The result is a moody visual language that generates more questions than answers.
Voice, #alexa, and realtime: Making interactions into lasting experiences

We’ve progressed as developers from creating applications with complex functionality to focusing on creating experiences that retain our users. Amazing UI’s and clear-cut user flows are becoming the goal for many emerging/existing applications. While some industries are still trying to migrate towards a mobile-centric model there are different takes on the next methods to improve the UI and UX. Voice, AR and VR, just to name a few, have become contenders to break the simple model of interacting with a screen and have started to trend more towards augmenting real human interactions. This means that people have begun to abstract their interactions farther away from tapping on a screen to shaking their phones or talking to their device.\credit: ▻https://www.behance.net/jihncyThe more we delve (...)

The aim of the book is to provide a new and innovative narrative of our World to the children, depicting it with the tools of infographic and data visualization, combined to colorful illustrations.
The book has been created by Federica Fragapane – Information Designer and Illustrator – and Chiara Piroddi – Psychologist, Developmental Psychotherapist, expert in Neuropsychology. The combination of the two different professional figures allowed to work on a project extremely focused on the accessibility of the information to a young public and at the same time on the creation of a visually evocative storytelling tool.

In the series PERSPE Gustav Willeit creates a parallel universe, showing an environment, which appears real but was actually invented. The viewer is able to recognize the natural origin of the picture, remaining in doubt though,
hung in a space between reality and fantasy.
The human element, which is often to see in Willeit’s work, is never located randomly but has the task of giving the observer an element in which to recognize himself, creating a balance between truth and falsehood. The theme of the mirror and the double has always fascinated man and the pictures from the series PERSPE are wildly suggestive and possess a sense of mystery, existing somewhere within the border of illusion and reality.

▻http://fr.rbth.com/longreads/khrouchtchevkas

The Disappearing Mass Housing of the Soviet Union - CityLab

(mars 2017)
Soviet mass housing was not just machinery to roof people; it was part of culture. Whenever you go to Russia and talk about housing, 90 percent of the people there can tell you their own stories because they’ve lived in them. They understand it’s not just about the technological aspect. There’s culture and a spirit inside these places. The Soviet housing program is one of biggest planning projects of the 20th century; 170 million people are living in these kinds of buildings now. It’s not a small chapter of architectural history.

The Missing Migrants Map’ is the visual representation of all the incidents recorded by “The Missing Migrants Project”.
This visualization is based on the data tracked by the “Missing Migrants Project”, a joint initiative of IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) and Media and Communications Division (MCD).
The projects aims at tracking all the deaths of migrants and those who have gone missing along migratory routes worldwide. The research behind this project began with the October 2013 tragedies, when at least 368 migrants died in two shipwrecks near the Italian island of Lampedusa.
Since then, Missing Migrants Project has developed into an important hub and advocacy source of information that media, researchers, and the general public access for the latest information.
Missing Migrants Project uses statistical data from governments and sources other agencies, as well as NGOs and media.
Data has been filtered on 2015 incidents happened in the european and mediterranean area.
The map is characterized by a purely geographical guise, to show both the morphology of the territory, and to highlight the fact that we all are citizens of the world.
The visualization was originally developed in september 2015, than updated in february 2016 with new events.
