7 Haunting Portraits of Afghan Refugee Children
#Muhammed_Muheisen is an award-winning photographer for the Associated Press. Serving as the chief photographer of Pakistan, many of his images are haunting portraits of Afghan refugees.
Starting in 2001, Muheisen began covering major events in the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Iraqi conflict. He also covered events in Saudi Arabia, China, Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt, Syria and France. Today, he brings the visuals of a down-and-out Pakistan to the rest of the world.
An April 2013 TIME magazine profile on Muheisen put his line of work into great perspective: “In Pakistan, cameras draw unnecessary and unwanted attention to the photographers wielding them, making it difficult to avoid impacting the scene by their presence. Muheisen cannot avoid his influence in the scene. But when one examines his photographs — particularly those of children — it’s evident his subjects do not mind his warm presence.”
