The al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that it had lost contact with a group of militants that could have captured a soldier amid clashes with Israeli troops early Friday.
“We lost contact with a group of fighters ... when Israeli occupation forces penetrated east of Rafah. We suspect they were all killed by Israeli shelling, including the soldier, who, supposedly, was abducted by the group.”
The statement went on to explain Hamas’ understanding of the chronology of events that led to the collapse of the ceasefire on Friday.
“What happened east of Rafah Friday morning was that occupation forces took advantage of the alleged humanitarian ceasefire to penetrate our land for more than two kilometers. We estimate that our fighters who were in the area clashed with the Israeli troops around 7:00 before the alleged ceasefire went into effect.”
“Then, Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeted Palestinian civilians after 10:00 a.m., breaching the ceasefire under the pretext of searching for a missing soldier.”

Toute la journée hier, j’ai entendu sur les radios que l’armée d’Israël recherchait le soldat capturé en pilonnant la zone des tunnels où il avait disparu, sans que JAMAIS on fasse remarquer que c’est quand même une drôle façon de chercher.

Le soldat israélien, porté disparu depuis vendredi dans la bande de Gaza après une attaque du Hamas, a été tué au combat, a annoncé dimanche l’armée israélienne. L’Etat hébreu avait accusé dans un premier temps le mouvement islamiste palestinien d’avoir enlevé le sous-lieutenant.
« Une commission spéciale menée par le rabbin en chef de l’armée a annoncé la mort de l’officier d’infanterie Hadar Goldin, tué au combat vendredi dans la bande de Gaza », a indiqué un communiqué militaire sans confirmer ou infirmer si le corps ou une partie du corps du militaire avait été retrouvé.
L’armée israélienne avait déclaré vendredi que le soldat avait probablement été enlevé. Mais la branche armée du Hamas, tout en endossant la responsabilité de l’attaque, avait indiqué ne rien savoir du sous-lieutenant. Elle avait même estimé qu’il avait été tué avec le commando palestinien dans un bombardement israélien.
