More Mass Graves in Mexican Search for Missing Students | News | teleSUR

Four more mass graves were found Sunday as part of ongoing search efforts by civilians and nongovernmental organizations in Mexico to locate the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa teacher-training college, missing since September 26 after being detained by local police.

Since that date more than 15 mass graves, and dozens of bodies, have been found. However, none of the remains have been linked to the missing students so far.

The most recent mass graves were found in La Laguna, close to Iguala, the town where local police officers shot at several buses transporting the Ayotzinapa students, before handing the survivors over to a local gang.

The nongovernmental organizations involved in the most recent discovery are now waiting for the arrival of local authorities to begin the forensic investigation.

The unearthing of numerous mass graves is exacerbating the criticism of local and federal authorities, who have not been able to provide concrete evidence on the fate of the students, nearly 60 days after they disappeared.
