Even though Ebola is gone here, the hated quarantine, which began back in July, remains. Strangely, they now say it is to protect us – to keep others out, rather than to keep us in. The impact is the same, though: we can’t move. My aunty can’t do the business she used to (...) We have survived on occasional food gifts and through “backyard gardening” – growing simple things and then seeing if I can sell some in town. But we rarely make more than 4,000 leones a day (about 62p).
