This is the story of a woman who made amazing contributions to society, in spite of intense ostracism and stigmatization just for trying to be herself, and how she did it by taking on a secret new identity, and living her life in “stealth mode”.
Lynn Conway est l’inventrice de l’architecture VLSI des puces modernes (celles qui se trouvent dans le M1 d’Apple, par exemple). Elle a commencé par y réfléchir comme étudiante au MIT, puis employée chez IBM dans les années 1960, sous son identité masculine. Virée d’IBM quand elle a commencé une transition (bricolée), elle a pris une nouvelle identité, redémarré de zéro, et est devenue une des chercheuses les plus reconnues en informatique.
