Hong Kong police made 8,981 arrests between June 9, 2019, and May 29, 2020, in connection with the protests. Among those arrested, 1,707 were under 18 years of age, including 1,602 secondary students and eight primary school pupils. Another 5,640 arrestees were aged between 18 and 30 years old. The South China Morning Post struck gold at the PRINT Awards 2020 for a full-page visual of arrests made in connection with the political unrest
that erupted in Hong Kong last year.
The Post’s “Arrested Development” took the top prize in the editorial category. The contest for the first time accepted submissions from outside the United States and drew more than 1,300 entries from around the globe.
