Mongolia’s State Honored Artist E. #Amartuvshin, who beat over 300 opera singers to qualify as one of the finalists of BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, won the Audience Prize on Sunday night.
The competition takes place every two years and it was his first time competing in it. He was named as one of the top five contestants, after making it to the final stage of competition with 19 other singers.
E.Amartuvshin performed “Chinii Min Nulims” (Your Tears), composed by celebrated Mongolian artist N.Jantsannorov, at the finale. The Mongolian audience who watched the performance was grateful as he sang a song in his mother tongue.

Belarusian singer Nadine Koutcher was crowned Cardiff Singer of the World, winning the competition’s trophy and a 15,000 GBP prize.
