A good reminder for those who are now recommending more military intervention in Syria: The EU (and others) has absolutely no plan for dealing with what will be a massive wave of people fleeing Government areas in the event of a denouement. If you think the refugee issue is #insane now, then wait for when the 50% of the population in Assad-controlled areas is caught up in out and out street war.
