JERUSALEM (Ma’an) — A Palestinian man who was shot on Friday after stabbing an Israeli in East Jerusalem has died from his injuries, Israeli police said.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Ahmad Hamada Qneib i from Kafr Aqab, was initially reported to be in a critical condition after being shot following a stabbing attack on an Israeli near the Ammunition Hill light rail station in Sheikh Jarrah.

He was later pronounced dead by Israeli police.

Israel’s army said two Israelis were stabbed and injured near the Palestinian Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, with Israeli media later reporting that the second Israeli was injured after being shot by Israeli police as they tried to fire at the attacker.

The Israeli was moderately wounded in the stabbing and taken to hospital for treatment.

Qneibi was the 66th Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October, after another man, Qassem Mahmoud Sabaneh from Jenin, was shot and killed earlier in the day after allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli border policeman at the Zatara checkpoint south of Nablus.
