The top two contenders for the Republican Presidential nomination have been having a mouth race to see which of them can more fervently pledge to outsource the making of a vital element of United States foreign and national-security policy to a foreign government. The venues have ranged from an interview in Sheldon Adelson’s mass-circulation, right-wing Israeli tabloid Israel Hayom (Romney) to an appearance on a New York cable channel (Gingrich). The most immediately important audience, however, is in faraway, Jew-challenged Iowa, where end-of-days evangelicals impatiently await the ultimate Republican caucus they call the Rapture.
